Binge watched tv shows (Part 1)

We are watching Tokyo vice with Ansel elgort. It’s loosely based on the true story of an American ex pat reporter in Tokyo in the 1990s. If you like organized crime/ mafia stories with an interesting cultural angle then check it out. It’s mostly in English.

I’ve been watching a lot of Murder She Wrote. Boy, Cabot Cove sure is a dangerous place.

Especially after @MaineLonghorn moved there.

I think the same thing about Death in Paradise. Who in the world would want to go on vacation to Saint-Marie? Someone is murdered every week.

And if you find a time machine, don’t go to the Cotswolds in 1950’s England. But if you can’t, avoid Catholic priests and nuns, especially named Father Brown or Sister Boniface; someone’s dying soon.

On so many shows you just have to suspend disbelief on the number or coincidences with murders / relationship to show characters.

I can’t believe how many guest stars were so nice on Love Boat and turned out to be murderers.

 I’ve wondered if NCIS Hawaii contributes to tourists staying away……nah.:upside_down_face:

Only if they’re sailors or marines.

No lie, it’s our go to when we can’t decide what to watch! Some of the guest celebrities have some pretty bad accents.

Watching NCIS, you would think that Rock Creek Park is the worst possible place for navy/marine personnel to visit—they’re always found dead, lying in the bushes!!!

I recommend The 3 Body Problem on Netflix.

How about Midsomer as in “Midsomer Murders”. My gosh. At least 3 people die per episode. Hubby and I joke that there can’t be too many people left there!

I was surprised there was anyone left in Sunnydale by the end of Buffy. Oh wait, there wasn’t.

We continue with “The Gentleman” series on Netflix, though it’s a bit darker than I’d like. (Not sure whether to watch the movie someday).

We gave up on it.

We finished The Gentlemen and thought it was alright.

We are currently watching Monsieur Spade which we are enjoying. It maybe too slow for some.

I’ve been watching “Traces”, aka CSI-Dundee (slow). Britbox.
Verbally graphic but not visually so. Emma’s mother was killed when she was 7 and she moved to England. Now a university graduate, she returns to Dundee to work on chemical analysis of street drugs in a lab associated with Police Scotland. Her returns makes her want to figure out what happened to her mother.

Before that I watched Blue Lights, also Britbox. Absorbing look into 4 new Belfast police officers in their training period: a 2nd career 40s single mother, the superintendent’s daughter, an academic’s “fast tracked” son who wants to test out what he learned at Queen’s, and the working class daughter of a single mother. I really recommend it and there’s a 2nd season coming!

Do you have a new US show to recommend?

Been loving Physical 100. I finished Season 1. And began Season 2. Season 2 has a more varied range of athletes competing for $250,000 ish, including actors and a K-pop star.

I’m liking The Gentlemen fine. I don’t tend to like gangster or drug shows (other than Breaking Bad) but it’s entertaining.

Yep, The Gentlemen is entertaining. We watched it til the end, though it involved more violence / death than I like. The characters were interesting, though I did not always liked the direction they went.

I’ve been watching Palm Royale on Apple tv+. It’s a bit hard to figure out what it’s trying to be, but I enjoy seeing that 90 year old Carol Burnett is just as great as she’s always been. It’s evidently based on the book Mr. and Mrs. American Pie but I haven’t read it.
