Binge watched tv shows (Part 1)

I totally agree. I’m only watching since I don’t like to not finish something I started, but this season is subpar

I would like to ask those who like Severance when it will start to get interesting. We watched the first two episodes and found it too boring.

Same thing with White Lotus Season 3. We really wanted to like it but it is so boring. We stopped after the first episode. A good friend continued to watch a few more and told me later that it was boring so she stopped.

You’ll get different answers from different viewers. For us, Severence is slow and confusing. (Others love it.) However we do go back to it when having trouble finding new shows. Sometimes there are good insights to the big mysteries of the show, but it’s not satisfying.

Interestingly we found the Counterpart series horribly weird and confusing. Just when we’d get it figured out, there would be another twist. However we both did like the show.

I like the show, but I can understand how it’s not for everyone. I will admit that after every show, I look up the recap that Vulture provides every week. That helps a lot. I am also listening to the podcast that Adam Scott and Ben Stiller do every week.

Need to put in another plug for The Pitt. The last hour was driven by a mass casualty event, so it was as one of the doctors said turning the ER into a frontline field hospital, a lot of fast decisions on triage and a fair amount of MacGyvering.

Put us down as another that are enjoying White Lotus Season 3. I think the cast this season is so good and I love the way the show is building. As someone else said it just goes to show you that shows and movies are very subjective to our different tastes.

I think that Severance is a show best “enjoyed” by having supportive resources, lol. Meaning things like - watch a season. Watch it again. Read some articles/reviews on it. Listen to a podcast. It is SOOO deep and complex that you can’t catch everything on a first watch. Or only on a watch. There is enjoyable tv, fun tv, short term or long term TV and then there is BRILLIANT tv. I think Severance is brilliant tv. So complex and involved that it is not casual watching tv.

But definitely give it more than 1 or 2 episodes. It is NOT at all the type of tv I usually watch. But Adam Scott is my all time fav actor and it is so quirky and also suspenseful that I was drawn in.

Good analysis! On the podcast I just listened to, one of the actors said he himself won’t catch onto something for awhile, then it dawns on him, “Oh, THAT’S what’s going on!”

You got to love Lisa (poor Gaitok). Her back story is pretty amazing. I couldn’t imagine being a Thai girl who made it big as a KPop icon.

Last week’s “confession” by Frank was pretty mind blowing and Rick’s expressions/reactions were dead on. It reminded me a bit of that scene in Animal House when Professor Jennings was going on about little universes in your fingernail – a stream of consciousness when you are in an altered state.

For me, we’re 6 episodes in, and I’m still waiting for when it gets interesting. :man_shrugging:

You didn’t think episode 6 was “interesting”? :exploding_head:

I did not, with the possible exception of the final scene.

I love it all!

We are watching “Landman”. It is one of those that grates on my nerves for language and one of the characters but gosh darn, Billy Bob Thornton is superb.

Thank you those who have watched Severance and White Lotus and provided me with your comments.

I will not go back to watch White Lotus. I may (or may not) go back to try Severance again.

It is true that taste is subjective. However, popular shows are popular shows because a lot of people like it. I enjoyed Derry Girls very much. There are some people here who cannot stand it. Some of my friends do not get it, either.

That said, I would go back and re-watch Slow Horses, Deadloch, Fargo (TV series), etc. than continue on with White Lotus or even Severance.

Try Severance again. White Lotus is crazy but I still watch. Severance is very well done.

:+1:t3::+1:t3:hilariously skewers hollywood. think robert altman’s the player and the woefully underrated action with jay mohr.

My son just told me about The Studio and I watched the first two episodes last night. The 2nd one had me so anxious. They were great.

DH and I are loving The Pitt so decided to binge ER. Probably the last people on the planet to watch it for the first time. We’re on S1/E5. Got a looooong way to go. Dr. Robby is SO young!
