WRT Nobody Wants This I didn’t like this season as much either. The shallow rich girl thing in lots of recent shows grates on my nerves. In their own way, each of the sisters was portrayed as ditzy, shallow, vengeful or all of the above.
I finished all six episodes of Chad Powers on Hulu, starring Glen Powell, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Season 1 ended on a cliffhanger.
I sure hope there’s a Season 2.
I’m watching “Nurse Jackie” on Netflix now and enjoying it. Edie Falco is such an amazing actress.
I think season two of Nobody Wants This did get better as it went on.
Of course, sometimes I just really like the last episode of a show and remember the season more fondly, so that’s also a possibility lol
That’s were I am. Love the first three. Not so much now. Hopefully, it gets better.
Just finished Nobody Wants This and generally liked it. I do love Kristen Bell. But throughout both seasons, I wasn’t entirely comfortable with how Judaism is portrayed. Just seemed a bit too exotic - for lack of a better word. I did appreciate that it was a change of pace to see it set bumping against nothing and everything, vs Christianity.
I have my own opinion about the ending. And what comes next.
Just finished Season 5 Episode 6 (finale) of Slow Horses. It started a bit slower than previous episodes but the finale was very good. Lamb is still the smartest guy in the room. River was so cranky and full of himself. I missed Louisa.
Overall, Slow Horses is still one of the most entertaining tv shows around for those who like a thriller with dark comedy. Season 6 was filmed and Season 7 is filming now. Audience waits about a year for each season, which is unheard of and good for us. I wish other shows followed this formula. Who wants to wait 2-3 years to see each season.
While I did not enjoy season 2 of Nobody Wants This as much as season 1, for me and my kids some of it as so spot on with the way his family is portrayed that our (me and my daughters ) group chat is filled with texts about it. There are scenes that could have been lifted verbatim from my older daughters interactions with her in in laws. Even though we like them are Jewish and I and my husband are very conventional. But my son in laws parents are from Russia ( like the NWT rabbi…and the creators real life husbands family ) and the culture clashes are very real!
We really liked Slow Horses also.
Liked the ending of “The Diplomat”, but not the last 2-3 episodes at all.
We felt exactly the same. The penultimate was so boring, but the finale was good. I just love Bradley Whitford.
Just watched the first 2 episodes of Nobody Wants This and thought they weren’t great, missing the charm of Season 1.
Just did a binge rewatch of Downtown Abbey. I love the characters, and like Tom, grew to love them. But I forgot what terrible snobs they all were, except Sybil.
I just finished binging Nurse Jackie after seeing too many clips. I loved it. Edie Falco was great, but I also think Merritt Wever, as Zoey, did an incredible job.
Yes! She’s so believable.
Started Season 2 of Nobody Wants This and I’m just not enthralled – maybe because I just don’t think they are a good long-term match.
I guess I’m good with NWT because I’m not looking for anything other than light entertainment. I think both Kristen Bell and Adam Brody are adorable, it’s funny and fun.
Between the world outside and my own life so far this year, that’s all I want.
I’m scrolling past a lot of these posts because I’ve been out of town and gotten behind on my shows. I finished Only Murders in the Building and Slow Horses. Although I suspected the last scene of Slow Horses it was still heart breaking. I liked the humor this season. It looks like next season will be much more intense. I haven’t read the books.
I’ve watched the first two episodes of Nobody Wants This but haven’t formed an opinion yet. I plan to alternate episodes of that with The Diplomat.
Sometimes I think what happens to me (in reference to Nobody Wants This) is that it can be SO long between seasons (and it’s a quick season at that!) that 1. I forget the dynamic of the first season and its quirks) and 2. I’ve built up such a “oh, I can’t wait for this show to come back!”, mentality that I am expecting more than I should from the get go.
The show definitely has its place as a light entertaining blend of sort of opposite family and friends. This may change as I watch the last few episodes but I feel like I’m missing the so strong attraction between JoAnne and Noah - and maybe that’s exactly what they are going for!
I don’t want to give any spoilers so I can’t say all that I like about the show, but I can say that I liked the way we got a bit of background that informs why the characters are the way they are.
I absolutely loved that show, too. I might have to do a rewatch.
We have been binging on “A Thousand Blows”, about the underbelly of London in the late 1800s. Once we acclimated to the Cockney accents, we were drawn in by the scenery, quality acting and interesting intersecting plots. I recommend it.
