Ha, we leave for a two-week vacation on February 7. Maybe I’ll watch all ten episodes before then. And watching the latest Pitt, or course. ![]()
It’s sooooo good.
i went to go watch the new season…and learned I hadn’t finished the last one! Whatever episode I watched last, I apparently thought the season was wrapped up. lol
I am still working myself through Grey’s Anatomy. Christina (Sandra Oh) just left for Switzerland and took her resident too.
I have never watched Bridgerton so I am looking forward to another binge.
When I read you are ‘still working through Gray’s Anatomy’ I thought you meant the book. Obviously my hike today was too taxing and I need to rest.
Just started Ponies on Peacock. Looks like it’s going to be good.
I watched the 4 episodes now and am a bit disappointed. I liked the Cinderella motif and their attempt at weaving different stories at once.
(Spoiler ish next paragraph/not specific, skip if need be)
However, they had an opportunity to explore below stairs hierarchies&relations and barely skimmed it (as a lady’s maid Sophie wouldn’t be wearing the parlor maid’s uniform for instance, Varley getting old dresses to sell…), master/servant relations, all through the “Maid wars”; Lady Violet wearing 1930s underthings and all of that was really poorly done, almost as if for comedy when it had lots of potential; Eloise made to be the bad guy (I too can’t fathom pretending interest in Hyacinth’s lessons, day after day for several months, this supposedly starting in April and the last episode being October?) and I get that they’re trying to show she feels and is made to feel “the odd one out” but this storyline has not coalesced yet. I know the show runners have decided Eloise is the one “allowed” to remain single but they don’t seem to know what to do with her character. Hyacinth trying to break out of the nursery by having long hems and learning “accomplishments" has potential too but she definitely looks older than Gregory now
.
Two episodes into Bridgerton S4, and am disappointed—rehashing Cinderella is incredibly lazy—is Shonda out of ideas, so she has to poach from fairy tales?
The Netflix show is based on the Bridgerton series of books by Julia Quinn – the “Cinderella-like” plot apparently was Benedict’s story in the novel. So I wouldn’t blame Shonda for the plot. But I do agree that this season has not been particularly exciting thus far.
imho bridgerton s4 has been entertaining thus far. nothing can match s1 but why didn’t all the eps get released? waiting until feb 26 for final 4. maybe it can reach its pinnacle.
Well, that makes me happy, because I’ll be on vacation from February 7-20. ![]()
OK then, Julia Quinn must have been low on ideas, as copying Cinderella I still contend was lazy writing. I hope subsequent books provide more original and creative plots.
While I await the final 4 episodes of Bridgerton, season 29 of Silent Witness has started with 2 episodes on BBC iPlayer. No word on release date to Britbox or other platforms.
They’ve moved to Manchester, right?
Also, new Death in Paradise on iPlayer - welcome to your vacation on the most idyllic, murderous Caribbean island
.
@vwlizard : starting Ponies too! ![]()
Birmingham
Yes. And they wrote off yet another main character with just a passing reference.
Back to Bridgerton season 4 - agree with what everyone said above. I am no prude but did the Penelope/Colin love (consummation) scene seem way too long? Actually, I think that was the end of Season 3 I was catching up on. Do many of the “dalliances” (not sure what words I can use on CC!) seem implausible?
I was on a 16 hour plus plane ride yesterday. I watched most of the first season of The Pitt. I then asked my ED daughter if the show was realistic. She hasn’t seen it, but a number of her colleagues have seen one or two episodes and stopped…saying it was like watching their day at work on TV, and they didn’t need that.
I have to say, it’s a well done show. Since I don’t get HBO Max, I guess I’ll have to wait until next year…and a long plane ride to watch more.
Has anyone else tried watching Hijack? First episode of season 2 didn’t impress me.
For what it’s worth the books are very different. Less funny, but sometimes interesting medical tidbits because Quinn actually attended Yale Med School for a few months, but her first three novels already had been published and she dropped out.
My husband who is not a doctor (though he worked at a med school) found The Pitt too stressful after two episodes.
