Binge watched tv shows (Part 2)

Finished season 2 of Beef. Loved the economic underpinnings.

I’ve been watching “Patience” (Masterpiece Mystery/PBS). Pretty good. About a woman with autism who works in the file area of the York (UK) police department. She turns out to be very helpful recognizing behavior patterns to solve murders. And there’s a neurodiverse kid too, son of one of the detectives.

As usual, I am late to the party. Just started watching season 1 of Beef last night. So far, I am enjoying it.

Enjoying Ted Lasso and Silo but despite having fun with the Emmy campaign for Pluribus and Widow’s Bay, those are weekly drops, so I started Sugar which is about a polyglot private detective who specializes in missing persons and fashioned himself after 1940s-50-60s Hollywood heroes (great outfits, classic car, unfailing politeness, class, whisky, running commentary), Bogart/JamesBond perhaps (he has gadgets? Or maybe just basic tools of the trade?)

The original French version of this show called “Astrid” is very good.

@Colorado_mom I think this post is in the wrong thread

Although it might make an interesting reality series…

We watched it at the beginning of this year. Really enjoyed it. We both agree what a fantastic actor Mandy PantInkin is. You’d never know he was ever acting!

We liked season 1 of Beef - different! I actually think it could have ended well about 2 episodes before it did.

We did not like season 2.

Probably late to the party, but with free Starz on Comcast this past week, we finally watched the final season of Outlander. The ending of the series had a lot to unpack–worry not, no spoilers here!–an online article from Town and Country helped to explain quite a bit of how it all finished up.

For fans of the French series Call My Agent!, there is a sequel movie serving as a follow-up five years later (I can’t believe it’s been that long) which will be released on Netflix on September 10.

The link’s in French, but one can run through an online translator if needed.

This is great! Can’t wait! (Though maybe i should rewatch first, because it’s been a few years and I don’t really remember the overall story arc).

Fantastic. I’ve binged it twice! Thanks for the info.

Neagley - a spinoff of Reacher (which BTW I’m currently bingeing thanks to suggestions on this thread) - drops 9/16 on Prime

On the same date, episode 1 of the sixth season of Slow Horses drops on Apple TV+

Started a series on Britbox called Gone—wife of a very peculiar headmaster of a posh British boarding school disappears. He is so matter-of-fact and unemotional about her disappearance that he immediately becomes a suspect. One episode down, 5 to go.

A new series, I believe it aired in UK this past spring.

Thanks for the Slow Horses update. I have a one month “trial” for Apple TV+ and was about to redeem it to watch Widow’s Bay but will wait for Slow Horses.
