I don’t know why it took us so long to watch Mad Men. Oh my goodness!
I know, right??? I binged it a few years ago. So amazing. I’m thinking about rewatching it. I have a friend whose Dad worked on Madison Avenue in that era, and she said the show is pretty realistic.
Mad Men is one of my all time favorite shows. We last binged it during Covid. Maybe it’s time for a rewatch this fall or winter.
I watched it but H didn’t, so we were watching and it seemed like he lost interest, I was really enjoying the rewatch.
Ha, my husband tends to lose interest in most series! I keep trying to find ones he will stick with. He liked “Little House on the Prairie,” surprisingly, and watched the whole thing.
We started watching Widow’s Bay and have seen about 5 episodes. It’s a comedy/horror series (Apple) set on a New England island town. The town mayor (Matthew Rhys) wants to bring more tourism to the island and discounts locals who insist that the island is cursed. Turns out there’s lots of weird stuff happening on island. I’ve enjoyed it so far–my adult D and SIL are watching it too and I think they like it more than I do. It’s most filmed in MA and I recognized some of the places.
I recognized the Martha Mary chapel immediately. Knowing it was mostly filmed in Rockport, I had to check and see if they used any other locations. Turns out there are quite a few in my area that were used.
Mad Men had one of the best finales ever. Probably tied with The Americans.
I didn’t watch Mad Men when it first came out but somehow found it in about March of its final season. I binged it and ended up able to watch the finale on the night it aired. I think I might have lost interest if I hadn’t had a goal of catching up for the finale. Glad I did.
Me too. ![]()
Finally got on The Pitt bandwagon and binged both seasons. Great show, even if I have to look away from some of the squeamish scenes. It does a good job of highlighting the problems with our healthcare system, that is for sure!
An interesting aspect of The Pitt is how ER personnel talk about how realistic it is. My latest ER visit wasn’t representative because the hospital had a separate trauma center so the ER itself was essentially for the ambulatory.
We just binged Hazardous History season 1. It is a documentary about the crazy batcrap things that were perfectly normal in the past and that would make your hair stand on its ends today! My husband usually surfs the internet while we watch TV, but he hasn’t touched his iPhone and was glued to the screen while we watched this one! ![]()
I am disappointed in this season of Ted Lasso.
I’m enjoying it. Sorry you’re not liking it.
I eventually quit watching Ted Lasso also. Tried about 5 or 6 episodes hoping it would improve but eventually gave up. Disappointing.
I’m a bit disappointed too.
It’s not bad but it’s not as well thought-out as previous seasons imho. I enjoy the focus on the women’s team except…There’s not really a sustained focus on the women’s team, its individuals, their stories, personalities, etc, how they coalesce, how coaching them is different from coaching the men’s team (except they don’t have money and some are couples.) There’s a lot of unrealized potential.
Same issue with Henry: there’d be so much potential for US vs. British school, parenting in the US vs. In the UK, etc. And nothing came of it.
Even Ted doesn’t quite seem himself.
The only one that’s true to himself is Higgins.
Also, I really like the actor for Coach Chilton, excellent addition, good character.
I still eagerly watch
..not as a “can’t miss it/cheers me up so much” show but a “nice filler” one.
The challenge with revival shows is they usually fall into the category of “Shows Nobody Except the Actors / Showrunners Wanted Revived.” For every “Doctor Who,” there’s 20 “And Just Like That…”
I’m going to share this with my husband, known for scrolling weird shows like this, although I strongly suspect he’s already watched it.
LOL, my husband likes that kind of stuff too.
I also recommend Strangest Things available on Disney plus. And if he is into disasters, Mayday would fit the bill (Have to say I requested to skip the episodes where nobody survived).
Agree 100%. As much as I loved it in Season 1, there’s no need to retread the Roy / Keely relationship yet again.
