Binge watched tv shows (Part 2)

I’m several episodes in to Dept Q with Matthew Goode; takes place in Scotland. Not the standard procedural. Intriguing.

A new fun British mystery series - Ludwig - lightweight but I get tired of the heavy stuff and it has great quirky characters.

Our son who is living in England recommended Ludwig to us ages ago. Happy we can finally watch it.

I’m enjoying Stick on Apple TV. In the vein of Ted Lasso or Shrinking with feel good resolutions. You need to like golf to enjoy it about as much as you need to like soccer to enjoy Ted Lasso.

I saw that and wondered. I was looking for a short, no brain work needed, simple series to watch. I’m watching Netflix’s Running Point, a comedy series, 10 short episodes. And basketball instead of golf or soccer. :). Stars Kate Hudson. It’s a Mindy Kaling show.

We liked Running Point. Funny and sometimes sweet, good for the “last show” of evening. (Similarly we also enjoyed shows like Ted Lasso, Ms Maisel, Shrinking, Trying). Currently we laugh a lot at Resident Alien. Also sometimes watch Death in Paradise and recently started The Cleaner.

The cleaner seemed macabre so I didn’t dare try it. But I liked MsMaisek, Ted Lasso… Would you say it’s in a similar tone?

The Cleaner is a British show about a fellow who cleans up after crimes and messy deaths. So I expected it to be quite macabre. But hubby had watched 2 episodes and enjoyed the humor. So he rewatched the with me, and I approved. The show is less about the deaths and more about the cleaner’s interactions with the folks at the crime scene and next door. (The actor reminds us both of Cliff, from “Cheers”)

Yes, that’s why I hadn’t even tried to watch it  but it sounds like the cleaning up bloody messes part is just the “quirky angle”.

I thought the series plot sounded familiar but it wasn’t The Cleaner, it was an older show called “Mr. & Mrs. Murder” another british mystery crime show. They are the cleaners but they solve the mystery of the murder at the same time. It’s actually light and kind of a cute relationship between husband and wife - they are funny together. The murder plays a very little part in the story, other than the solving of it. And, as is typical with the british style, really fun quirky characters. Mr & Mrs Murder (TV Mini Series 2013) - IMDb

Started the new season of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders that dropped today. As a lifelong Cowboys fan, this is my jam.

Did anyone watch Mobland (Paramount+)? We watched because Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan were in it. My H liked it better than I did; I thought there was too much murder and mayhem (plot centers on two warring crime families in Britain).

I started watching Running Point and then got distracted by other shows. I need to get back to it. I like Stick better than what I saw of RP so far.

RP is not at all deep or involved - it’s probably fairly predictable! Sometimes that is just what I’m looking for.

I may try Stick though. I tried to try “Trying” last weekend but for some reason my Apple app (even after deleting the app on my tv and reinstalling) was “unavailable”.

My favorite phrase on CC today. LOL - keep Trying, tis a good show.

We binged North of North on Netflix. Quirky, eight episodes about 30 minutes each and I can’t wait for season 2!
Also, watched Alone Australia on Hulu. It’s set in Tasmania and the Aussie’s approach to the show seems quite different from the American one. Love some of their attitudes. The scenery is amazing as are the contestant characters.

The Gilded Age season 3 starts tomorrow at 9 pm on HBO Max.

Coincidentally, my friends and I are going to Newport, RI today to check out those mansions.
