Biology 2010 Prep

You can buy some from amazon, I think. And I have the 1998 one. If you PM me your email address I’ll send you it. It had answers attached when I downloaded it, but a good deal of the answers on it are wrong, so don’t pay much attention to that.

Anyone have predictions about what might be on the FRQ’s?

And I have a few review questions here:

Wood arises from

(a) primary phloem
(b) primary xylem
(c) secondary phloem
(d) secondary xylem
(e) Home Depot

Segmented bodies, open circulatory systems, and protostome correctly describes which animal phylum?

(a) Arthropoda
(b) Annelida
(c) Nemotoda
(d) Platyhelminthes
(e) Justin Beiber

Which of the following is NOT a protist?

(a) Diatom
(b) Euglena
(c) Glomeromycota
(d) Rhizopoda
(e) $*h@!!&

umm for number 3 glomeromycota. It’s part of kingdom fungi right?
The rest idk, still haven’t reviewed that

to anyone that wants to know…you can miss 30 MC and get 5/10 on each FRQ and still get a 5.

Does the MC section have 100 or 120 question? The audit has 100, all the other released exams have 120… I got a 66 scaled MC score (after deductions for incorrect answers) on the audit… am I close to getting a 5?

i was messing around with this, you can use it too. [AP Pass - AP Biology Calculator](AP Biology Test Score Calculator - AP Pass)

@BigB14 - MC has 100 questions, it used to have 120 before 2004

On those 120 MC question tests I think 91/150 is a 5

To those who are asking for released exams… there are like four of them here: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/1064825659-post42.html</a></p>

Enjoy. :)

Thanks for the quick answers. I feel a lot better about this test now… :)

We need some animal system/function questions. :p

1) Which of the following is required in ALL living things in order for gas exchange to occur?
a) lungs
b) gills
c) moist membranes
d) blood
e) lymph

2) In animals, all of the following are associated with embryonic development EXCEPT
a) gastrulation
b) cleavage
c) depolarization
d) organogenesis
e) cell migration

3) Oxygen is transported in human blood by which type of cell?
a) erythrocytes
b) leukocytes
c) phagocytes
d) B cells
e) platelets

4) Salivary amylase, an enzyme secreted in saliva, begins the breakdown of which substance?
a) starches
b) proteins
c) lipids
d) nucleic acids
e) polypeptides

Questions 5-8:
a) Ovary
b) thyroid gland
c) posterior pituitary gland
d) adrenal medulla
e) anterior pituitary gland

5) Releases hormones that raise blood glucose level, increase metabolic activities, and constrict blood vessels.

6) Releases at least six different hormones, including several tropic hormones.

7) Releases hormones that stimulate the mammary gland cells and contraction of the uterus.

8) Releases hormones that stimulate growth of the uterine lining and promote the development of female secondary sex characteristics.

9) The three types of muscle in the body are
a) skeletal, cardiac, and smooth.
b) skeletal, vascular, and smooth.
c) skeletal, cardiac, and rough.
d) skeletal, cardiac, and striated.
e) skeletal, vascular, and smooth.

10) Which of the following carry blood away from the heart?
a) venules
b) veins
c) arteries
d) capillaries
e) atria

If you want, I can post more questions related to the body systems, reproduction, and development.

And I have a few review questions here:

^

Is the answer to the first one secondary xylem?

–

If you want, I can post more questions related to the body systems, reproduction, and development.

^ Post more! That’s definitely the biggest thing I need review on. xD

more questions would be great!

I thought salivary amylase broke down starches, not lipids?

Edit: It’s definitely starches, according to Cliffs: Salivary amylase, secreted into the mouth by the salivary glands, begins the breakdown of starch into maltose (a disaccharide).

Yeah it does break starches.

Amylase breaks down starches.

Also, [url=<a href="http://smabiology.blogspot.com/2009/03/mnemonic-study-list-for-ap-bio-review.html]here’s[/url">http://smabiology.blogspot.com/2009/03/mnemonic-study-list-for-ap-bio-review.html]here’s[/url</a>] a list of some mnemonics that might help.

hey
i’m reading the princeton review ap bio book
do u think it will help me get a 4/5???

Im pretty sure that 2. is C depolarization is a process of the action potential of a neuron.

hey guys, i’m wondering how well you have to know the labs. i know them relatively well, the concepts and everything behind them… maybe not the specifics because our bio class was kind of a joke.

i want a 5, and i’m getting close to perfect on the multiple choice section. i think there’s only 1 lab essay?

so should i study the labs a lot or no?

I have five old AP tests, and there are little to no questions about specific enzymes or substances. My teacher said they test on major functions, not what emdiolysomase (totally made up) does.
