Black Friday! What are you looking for?

@milee30

I have ordered things like queen size memory bed, etc. in the past from Costco online and delivered it to my house. Very convenient, of course, if you don’t mind waiting a week for the item to arrive. But I wanted my Oled TV today, so I can set it up and customize it tonight and enjoy it all day tomorrow on Thanksgiving Day. So I just brought it home the 55" edition from a local Costco with the help of my son who’s home for the holiday break. No problem fitting it in the back of my car, and it wasn’t all that heavy. $1,649.99 with 7 years of warranty with no additional cost! :smiley:

That’s the size of the one we have! It is a decent size. Mr. thinks he wants the 82 inch beast… over my dead body. :smiley:

A workout.

Just bought a couple 17 ounce S’well bottles at Nordstrom discounted 25% in great pattern choices. I will bring one to a gift exchange and give the other one to my mom.

I was looking for the new Echo Dot and just bought one for $24 on Amazon. Not sure how much I’ll actually use it but at that price, why not.

My kid uses his Dot in his dorm as his alarm clock and it’s an alternate way for me to communicate with him late at night or early in the morning just in case he forgets to charge his phone (which is often). He can lazily turn off his alarm clock with voice commands rather than getting up and going to his desk.

I need help! My mom wants a set of really good pots and pans that will ideally last her for the rest of her life. I know absolutely nothing about cooking.

Any ideas? If anyone comes across anything, I’d be happy to take suggestions.

Also looking for a gaming chair…

@romanigypsyeyes It depends on how much you want to spend. All-Clad is excellent however very expensive. Very similar in quality (triply stainless) at a fraction of the price is Tramontina line available at Walmart. Both will last forever and have excellent cooking properties.

We have been extremely happy with our Revereware and Farberware pots, but we don’t like pots that have ANY coating on them. Ours are also triple stainless. Some folks like cast iron, some like coated cookwear so nothing sticks. If you know what your mom likes, that’s a good starting point. I bought our pots >30 years ago and they’re still in great condition.

Costco often has great prices on cookware, IF they have the brands and styles you like.
Macy’s also has great prices when they are having sales, as does Ross, TJMaxx, and other discount stores. We have also purchased some pots from Penney’s.

We have been fans of Calphalon pots and pans for years. Last purchase was probably 5+ years ago, and Bed Bath and Beyond had a nice promotion and allowed their 20% off coupons as well.

Romy. I give All-Clad as gifts, bought at Williams Sonoma. I’ve never bought anyone a full set but pick the piece the person wants. E.g., the 2 quart vegetable steamer. I’ve never given a large piece, probably cuz those are the least used. TJ Max often has good pieces.

The set I bought 30+ years ago has 1, 2, and 3 qt covered pots, 5 quart ditch over that shares the cover with the frying pan. Those are most frequently used pieces. Have bought 2 8-qt pots, a 12 qt and 16 qt pot (have large extended family). I no longer use the larger pots much but they were handy when needed, eg to make soup base and soups/stews.

I finally did it! I ordered the 9 in 1 three quart instant pot from Amazon on sale for $55.

The best part of the deal was that I used my discover points and got it for the final price of $21.85.

Wishing everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving!

@TiggerDad We went with the Costco OLED last year and it was and still is an awesome purchase. I think the colors look very realistic with OLED. We don’t use the built-in apps at all - an Apple TV 4K is for that. HDR (High Dynamic Range) is just as important if not more so than 4K and the OLED handles it well. Surprisingly there is quite a bit of 4K and/or HDR content out there on iTunes and Amazon Video. Probably Netflix too, but we don’t have that. LG also has some really good picture settings built-in that you can use that are pre-calibrated by ISF and Technicolor which makes getting a good picture easy.

Egads… Costco has a SONY (!!) TV. No no no no no no no!!! We are not buying it. Someone wants to get up early and drive his truck to pick the dang thing up. I hate Costco. LOL.

I am shopping for travel deals! Screw stuff, I need a vacation. :slight_smile:

@youcee

I’m really enjoying my new LG 55" OLED 4K. I do need to contact Comcast to request a new X1 box designed for viewing 4K.

I also just pulled the trigger on a Canon DSLR 5D Mark IV camera body from eBay today due to the irresistible price of $1,899. This thing usually goes for around $3,000. I’m typically leery of purchasing anything through eBay, but the seller has 99.7% positive rating out of some 20,000 reviewers, so I decided to take my chance.

I just bought a couple of books on Amazon using their promo code: NovBook18. Lands End has a 50% discount off regular price items.

@romanigypsyeyes start with post 4 on this thread. The scanpan set got rave reviews. $299 for the set.

@romanigypsyeyes - I bought a Tramontina 18/8 set a Walmart a couple of years ago and love them! They cook really well and clean very easily. Couldn’t be happier. Have my old calphalon pots and pans to my kids to use.

Costco has All Clad sets. I agree - the Scanpan set is great!
