Boarding school financial aid to international students

Can you tell me the names of the schools?

Your list is very top heavy. I would listen to the other suggestions. If a school is not interested in admitting you, the FA amount is completely irrelevant.

I’m not completely sure if they offer FA, but if so look into UWC for your Junior and Senior years.

What about this?
Phillips exeter academy
Phillips academy andover
Groton school
St. Paul’s School
Lawrenceville
Middlesex school
Loomis chaffe school
Mercersburg school
Kent school
Northfield mount hermon

I think it’s still very top heavy. Mercersburg is a great addition, and I’m glad it made the list.

I would still keep the other schools if you like them, just add more not so selective ones.

Maybe he needs suggestions? Does anyone know any safety schools or “higher admit schools”. I do not know a lot of them but try the Master’s school, the Cranbook school. Also not exactly sure if these are higher admit I may be wrong.

Tank you @Oyin101 I will take a look on those schools. Also, I am he😅

My bad!!

This looks less like a “best fit” school list, and more like a prestige or Niche ranking list.

There are some schools on this list that give very little financial aid to international students from “overrepresented” countries unless there is an extremely compelling reason, and there are Hidden Gems not shown here that can and do give aid to very compelling international student applicants.

The SAO application allows one to apply to a large number of schools with essentially one application, unlike schools using Gateway that have time-intensive customized applications and essay questions. Most boarding schools use SAO, apart from several of those listed above such as PEA, PA, Groton, DA, SPS, Hotchkiss, CRH, L’ville (I may be a little off on this).

Thus you can apply to 10-15 Hidden Gems (in addition to some of the “Gateways” listed above) with virtually one application, but of course you will interview at each one.

Many Hidden Gem schools would welcome your informal inquiry over the summer, and some will be surprisingly upfront about whether it is at all feasible for you to potentially receive financial aid, especially since you seem to be a strong and motivated applicant.

Can anyone tell me that which school among them(above) don’t offer much FA to international students?

Not the question you asked, but I recall that at some point not so long ago, George had scholarships for kids from India. My guess is they still do but you would need to contact them to ask.

At a Ten Schools events this year there was a similar question. The only two schools that said they offered ANY financial aid to international schools were Andover and Exeter. And they made it clear that it was rarely given. All of the other schools explicitly said they did NOT. You need to carefully review each school’s policy before you apply. Applications are a lot of work. Don’t waste time unless you know it is an option.

I will second @SweetBoy1, look through intl FA policies. I think you should also consider international schools like UWC if that is possible. Maybe look into Indian boarding schools if that is of interests. A close friend of my family went to India for boarding school and absolutely loved it.

Hey guys. Thanks a lot for your continuous support. I have now finalized my list. I’m applying to a lot of schools most are elite because when I contacted the admissions office of less selective schools, most of them doesn’t offer FA to int’l students. Here it is-

Phillips Exeter Academy
Phillips Academy, Andover
Groton School
Choate rosemary Hall
Hotchkiss School
St. Paul’s School
Lawrenceville School
Milton Academy
Middlesex School
Loomis Chaffee School
Taft School
St. George’s School
St. Andrew’s DE
Northfield mount hermon
Mahindra College(UWC, India)
Pearson College(UWC, Canada)
Atlantic College(UWC, England)

So happy to see UWC. Awesome program!

I have lowered my list a bit because I don’t think so I would be able to manage the applications of 15+ schools. Also @gardenstategal they really have a great program. I agree

Smart of you to look at the UWCs - check out the New Mexico campus as well.

I think it is too early for you to have a final list of schools. I understand you are doing your best to understand which schools may consider FA for an international applicant from India, but unfortunately there is no easy way to figure this out, and it is certainly more complicated than looking at the size of a school’s endowment, or the narrative on a school’s Admissions webpage.

You have a lot of time to keep crafting and expanding your list, and keep in mind the SAO application allows you to apply to many schools with essentially one application. Consider adding even more SAO schools to your list.

There will be virtual boarding school fairs throughout the Summer and Fall. Consider attending these, and as the format permits, ask questions of the admissions representatives. Google “boarding school fairs” or some combination of these words and you’ll find them, and sign-up. You can then follow-up offline with these reps. Likewise, sign up directly for school information sessions. This will be a big time investment, but it is important to learn as much as possible about each school while demonstrating your sincere interest.
