Immigrants who really participating in productive lives come here legally. They have been checked over long period, they went thru the system and many of them do not have all rights for awhile. there are people whith very high skills and knowledge base that are truly contributing and paying taxes and still cannot have their kids in state colleges on in-state tuition although they are fully contributing as citizens of this state. The reason - they are LEGAL, only ILLEGALS have this type of rights in some states. Contradiction? Not at all if all policies are developed from “political correctness” and a goal of buying off as many votes as possible. Nobody cares about our security, nope, they care to have votes…and they are getting them, including many illegal.

suspect 2 is a student at UMass/Dartmouth. They are evacuating the campus now.

As compared to other countries, the U.S. is not densely populated

We never want this country to be as crowded, with little open space, etc as those other places. But it’s off topic.

I just turned on the TV and boy have things changed since I went to bed. Thank goodness I put the word “rumored” into my earlier post because now that info is verified to be totally wrong.

I hope this scenario ends without any more loss of life.

In a CNN interview, a retired HS teacher and neighbor, said there was nothing in Dzhokhar Tsarnaev’s “character, demeanor, that would suggest he is remotely capable of any of the things he’s suspected of doing.”

Tsarnaev’s former HS classmate, Sierra Schwartz, told "Good Morning America, “He never seemed out of the ordinary at all…This is not someone who seemed troubled in high school or shy. He was just one of us. It’s very weird.”

Tsarnaev’s father “insisted that his sons were innocent, but said he would appeal to his son to “surrender peacefully.””

Cpt, I disagree. I think the process by which the older brother immigrated to the U.S. is very relevant because of the Chechnya angle.

Think about this; refugees from North Korea who escape to the south are not just given a parade and tuned loose. They are given substantial scrutiny for a time, as they are possible spies or agents working for the north. I understand that many Cuban refugees who make it to the U.S. are similarly vetted. Their back stories are subjected to much scrutiny as possible by the U.S. government. Perhaps that happened in the case of the Boston suspects. We all want to know.

The father is not here. Who knows when he last saw his sons? I wonder who are/were their custodians. The older brother is reportedly 7 years older than the younger which makes it unlikely he was the guardian. No mention of the mother.

I hope no one else gets hurt. I wonder if there are others involved in some group activities that included this bombing. I hope the authorities get all involved.

My heart hurts for all of those who have been affected by this When I see the photo of that 19 year old, he reminds me of a young boy I knew some years ago, spitting image. 19. I have a 19 year old. How can we keep in touch with these young adults so that they don’t spin off like this. This is a 19 year old college student here, just like what many of us on these boards have, will have, have had, and have been.

The father also said that if his son(s) is dead, all hell will break loose.

“As compared to other countries, the U.S. is not densely populated”

Ever consider that the entire world is overpopulated? Small wonder life is cheap.

Malthus’ prophecy gets closer every day…

Hey Krillies, you’re still sporting “reputation” squares! ;)

ABC spoke to the father who is still apparently overseas. He has two daughters living in NYC.

Tamerlan is married and has a 3 year old daughter.

Is the father making a threat with the “all hell will break loose” thing? Because if something happens to his son because his son has a freaking suicide vest strapped on…there’s only so much police can do in their efforts to take him alive.

Son is in a similar position but not on the first floor. There’s a huge police station two blocks away so crime isn’t that much of a problem. I imagine getting a CW permit in the Boston area is difficult. Son has had some firearms training (Assault weapon, handgun, hunting rifle) but he’s never expressed any interest in getting his own weapon.

^^ I have to disagree with cpts idea. This is not a 19 year old like we have. Just because someone is young doesn’t mean they aren’t evil. Just because the face is angelic doesn’t mean the person isn’t vicious.

“The response to Sandy Hook was to blame every gun owner and there wasa well funded campaign to limited their rights.”

Not how I saw it. I saw people saying there have to be some regulations. Regulations were proposed that would not infringe on any responsible gun owner’s rights. I never saw ANYONE blame every gun owner. And people have to pass tests to get a driver’s license, and cars have to pass inspection. Seems totally reasonable to close gun show loopholes regarding background checks. To call that “limiting their rights” is just more knee-jerk reaction.

“The response to Giffords shooting was to blame the Tea Party and Sarah Palin when neither had even the slightest connection.”

Palin had used bullseyes imagery and the phrase “crosshairs” when talking about Gifford’s district. Of course she didn’t mean that literally. No one said she did. But people commented that it was inflammatory rhetoric that fed into the mindset of “by bullet or by ballot” which is what Sharon Angle had said.

I know we’re not supposed to debate politics here. But no one (or at least no mainstream politician or commentator) suggested that we kill Sarah Palin or deport Tea Partiers or put all gun owners in jail. And that is the kind of rhetoric I have seen since 9/11 and especially the last few days regarding Muslims.

@BCE, Why would you need a CW permit to keep it in your home?

I’ll take a guess that U.S. authorities have asked the suspects relatives, particularly anyone living in the U.S. to appeal to this kid to surrender. If he has two American sisters, that’s a promising possibility. The father in Russian appears to be a lost cause, considering his threat.
