They are saying that the JFK library incident is unrelated - a fire in a mechanical room.

Watching the press statement. So horrific.

A lot of confusing statements, one report is saying the BPD commissioner is stating that the JFK incident could be related.

This is so tragic. My prayers are with those hurt and their families and friends. It is so very sad.

Just heard this a few minutes ago. Daughter called from Brandeis. So upsetting.

But today’s the 15th.

Authorities saying via twitter to contact people using text message, not cell phone. Keep cell phones clear where possible. Cell service has been cut off in Boston anyway to prevent any use of cell networks to detonate devices.

Both Google and the Red Cross have people finder/hey I’m OK services.

Just heard about this what the…?

Good news among the bad: tweets reporting that runners are finishing the race and then running on to the hospital to donate blood.

Because think how horrid it would be if it turned out that the suspect ended up being cleared? I saw a former neighbor being forced to the ground and being handcuffed by police after her ex-husband killed their teenaged daughter in our neighbor’s living room, and then turned the gun on himself. It was the police doing their job, but it reinforced for me that “suspect” doesn’t necessarily equal “guilty”.

Most Day 1 info turns out to be wrong. There are always reports of a second shooter and never is one.

I am plenty willing to assign blame. I am just going to wait a couple of weeks.

“Good news among the bad: tweets reporting that runners are finishing the race and then running on to the hospital to donate blood.”

As honorable and noble as that sounds, I can’t imagine people who have just finished running a marathon being in any shape at all to donate blood. I’d be surprised if the Red Cross would clear them to donate- seems incredibly risky.

Without wishing to make too much light of the situation, clearly someone has been watching a bit too much of this [Four Lions (2010) - IMDb](Four Lions (2010) - IMDb)

You don’t want to be a delivery man in a truck driving around in Boston today or maybe for awhile.

^^^^^^Yeah, there are many potential suspects here. Best to wait and see…

ttparent, it is always impossible to get around Boston on marathon day. The marathon route essentially cuts the city in half and it can’t be crossed for hours and hours.

My daughter just posted to me on Facebook that they are shutting down cell phone service. Can anyone in the Boston area confirm this and why? My daughter is safe in her dorm but her mom is a nervous wreck!

NYMomof2, cops are randomly stopping a lot of trucks in fear of more truck bombs…

^^it’s impossible to get around Boston, period.

At their core, people are good. Their instinct is to care and comfort. Watch all those strangers using their clothes for compression, holding the lady on the gurney’s hand, pushing the chairs.

ttparent, I hadn’t heard that! Was one of the bombs a truck bomb? I thought they were in backpacks in garbage cans.

Cell phones can be used to detonate bombs–that’s why service is cut off.
