Bombing hits BostonMarathon

And the older brother died en route to the hospital I believe. Meaning he was not already dead (may have been close to it) when he got run over. Shudders

H says hand grenades are illegal contraband everywhere in US. Would have had to get them elsewhere or have stolen from military. No legal US source.

^I thought I heard from the press conference with the doctor that treated the older brother, the doctor said that besides the shrapnel, the older brother had bullet wound on his head. They tried to resuscitated him anyway the best they could.

"although probably not enough to get to the Mexican border. "

Canadian board is the way to go. If that is the plan, which I’d doubt.

Plenty of ability to wander over the invisible line up in Maine.

I’m guessing he was shot and his brother gave him up for dead, but still…

They are also looking for a '99 green Honda Civic, so maybe they think the second suspect stole another car and possibly left the area.

Actually I stand corrected. You have to complete significant paperwork, etc if you want grenades in the US according to online search.

“Sax, I think that is a pretty realistic explanation. They interviewed friends of the younger brother and they all said he was normal, happy and well adjusted. He had to be influenced by someone who had a lot of control over him. So heartbreaking, the whole mess.”

Who are you feeling sorry for in this, Harvest? Sounds like the culprit is touching a soft spot in you.

The day we finally show no mercy to monsters like them may be the day that such atrocities begin to subside. Take all the psychological baloney and good luck with it. At nineteen, I knew right from wrong – regardless of others trying to “influence” me – and what’s more, I knew it much earlier than that. I suspect that the vast majority of ccers knew at an early age too!

The lookout for the green Honda Civic was cancelled according to the news I’ve read.

In NY there are industries in getting green cards. There are companies in business just to hire to get paying customers over here. You can buy a spouse. Very easy to get a green card if you have the money. That’s why I don’t think any discussion about these guys being immigrants is of any use. If they did not get here that way, they could have easily done so another. They could have just as easily been illegally here as legal. Not an issue.

Just like for a all of the talk about guns, I don’t think any measures on the table would have made any difference as to what happened at Sandy Hook. Those guns were legally purchased and registered, the owner had them locked properly, trained and maintained properly. I don’t think anyone would have guessed that her son or anyone would do what that young man did. For all the talk about his handicaps, he was not one to make any list for violence and his issues are not ones associated with the sort of thing that happened. We are so far away from prohibiting someone from owning the fire power that woman had even if the feeble laws and controls we are trying to get to pass, that it would not make a bit of a difference in preventing a repeat of that.

The same with changes in immigration law. As far as I am concerned, an immediate problem is that we do not enforce the laws so that they are truly a joke and it’s easy to just come here illegally, make a go of it and get in through a back door. Sometimes easier than doing it legally. The illegals I know didn’t sneak in here through border patrols, but just bought a ticket, came to visit and did not leave. Simple as that. A lot cheaper than paying a coyote to take you in the trunk of his car, even if you buy a first class seat on the plane.

What I’m interested in, and worried about, is what was going on here with these two young men, and if there are groups in play doing this in the US. Any info about this could be valuable in terms of addressing any other such groups if we know about them and how they operate. So, I am hoping the authorities find this young man quickly and get him alive. I also am praying that no one else gets hurt. I have a feeling that he is not hiding under a rock somewhere or in any designated safer house but might well be an unwelcome guest at someone place.

I think it is relevant, also, that the young man was one that no one flagged as “off” or even remotely considered capable of such things. Some of the terrorists and killers had very clear signs that they were way off. It doesn’t seem to be the case here. It’s not a matter of going soft. I am horrified and also in pain that the young man on the run became such a monster at age 19 with everything about him pointing to normalcy. It’s frightening to me. So, yes, for me it is heartbreaking too. Heartbreaking about those hurt and killed at the Marathon, about the act of terror itself, that there was such a shoot out and security cop killed, and, yes, that that the terrorist himself did not survive, because that ended any chance of getting any info out of him. And now there is a very dangerous cornered, nothing to lose beast on the loose. I am very frightened and my heart does ache.

Leanid.

To understand how a man can go from the perfect high school student to a murderous terrorist will greatly benefit us all.

The political reality will be that any relaxed immigration policy up for debate now is dead.

People are outraged that people who have been granted refugee status could turn on the country that took them in.

Sooooo much stuff out there. Just read through the twitter account of white hat.

He became a naturalized citizen on 9/11/12.

Older brother was married and had a 3 y/o daughter (feel sad for those two).

(Wonder if all is true?)

Collateral damage and secondary harm always is a problem. I seriously doubt the bombers cared or will care about these issues at all. They have their own agenda, which has yet to be disclosed.

re grenades. James Holmes’ apartment contained 30 “grenades” (as reported by all media) but they were handmade. I’m not sure if the reports of the Boston bombers throwing grenades means they were manufactured grenades.

If someone is convinced of the rightousness of a cause, then it isn’t a stretch. Think of some of the domestic killers for a “cause.”

It’s confusing how they shot the officer at MIT, carjacked the Mercedes, and filled that car with significant amounts of explosives which they then deposited in Watertown. Did they go back to their apartment? That would seem very risky.

we are all desperate to know and understand. clearly, he will soon be dead.

But, until twitter takes down his account, it’s like reading a diary- here
@J_tsar

And, I wonder how much of this is coded text…

Uh, I don’t know about everything pointing to normalcy.

I don’t remember which one of the bombers it was, but one of them posted something on social media saying, roughly paraphrasing, that he doesn’t have a single American friend and that he doesn’t understand Americans.

Oh, to Hell with him!

Why would it be beneficial, because it would prevent someone else from becoming that way?! --hardly. The trouble with our society is it’s gone too soft. We are fretting and wringing our hands over the ‘poor’ criminal – ‘if we could only save the misguided’…turd! How many innocents have to be killed and maimed while we are figuring it all out. Swift and severe punishment is likely to prevent more crimes (please don’t tell me they are ‘tragedies’) than spending an eternity taking the bastards by the hand and ‘helping’ them. Let them both rot in Hell. Get in touch with your masculine side for a change!

Mind you, I am a very sensitive individual and abhor violence of any type. I would not take pleasure at all in having to mete out a just punishment for such human excrement, but were it up to me I would do it.
