There will doubtless be whackos who will claim conspiracy and set up but many want as much good info as possible.

Suspect was alive and conscious when taken into custody.

I’m glad he’s alive. I hope he is experiencing a lot of pain.

May he be treated to an enhanced manicure and several rounds of nasal lavage.

If what he says leads to a bigger organization behind this, then it was worth it. If all that results is a million dollar trial where he becomes a a poor victim abused by his older brother and forced to act against the country he loves, it would have been better off if he had taken a bullet too. Just hope DC eases up on the Russians and we line up on the same side.

Hope they searched him VERY well just to be extra careful. Hope no one buys he’s just a dupe or brainwashed. He had free will.

For those who want to know they suffered, there is a photograph online, allegedly of the deceased bomber.
Personally, I want every ounce of information squeezed out of the living one. There are a lot of unanswered questions. And what is the story about the FBI being asked to investigate the older one a year ago.

I think there has to be some organization behind these 2 brothers. I mean who was financing them? Neither had a job so who paid tuition, rent, food etc? The father in Russia? Doubtful. Certainly not the Uncle in Maryland. Even the guns, ammunition and explosives had to be paid for or procured by someone.

That’s a terrific idea! Let’s make sure that he can’t be convicted, or that any conviction is overturned!

Would he be going to Gitmo instead of standing in normal trial?

Yes. Does make you wonder. The dad only repaired cars. They had two or three places for boys to live. The sister didn’t live with them. The parents lived somewhere else. They had expenses including tuitions for the men. They also had to spend for living expenses and certainly the weapons and tech cost money as well.

How’s he getting into the hospital without an insurance card? He should be treated like the rest of American citizens…

What would the legal basis for that be? His crimes weren’t committed in Afghanistan, but right here in the USA, where he’s been a legal resident since the age of about 9. (I’m not sure if he’s a US citizen; I know his brother was.) Not to mention that we don’t actually know yet what his motives were.

Since the suspect was arrested on domestic soil, he won’t be going to GITMO. There would be no advantage of doing so.

Well, when a person is seen as a person who was a “terrorist,” perhaps they lose their protections as a citizen? There was at least one other US citizen that was put into Gitmo in the past, even though he was captured on foreign soil.

I am nearly giddy with happiness or relief that they caught this guy… alive and with no one else harmed.

Excellent police/detective work, Boston! May you all sleep a little easier tonight.

I am not advocating this but the advantage would be we can use enhanced interrogation technique against him. At this point, he does not have to say or do anything while being prosecuted under the law. Correct me if I am wrong.

I’m sure he knows about “you have the right to remain silent” and his lawyer isn’t going to have him disclose anything of value about his cohorts without getting a good deal.

At the risk of sounding like I dream of rainbows and unicorns, isn’t there some sort of “truth serum” injection?

The only deal he can get is no death penalty. And what if he does not talk or want to cooperate?

You know, it used to be that a lot of people tried to justify torture by using the “10 minutes to find the nuclear weapon” line. Now people throw it out there for criminals without any evidence of further threat of any kind? Talk about a slippery slope.
