Xiggi asked about this earlier too, questioning how one of the suspects got away.

I read a report today that there was only one cop who was in a firefight with the suspects. I’m not referring to the MIT cop who got killed, but instead the firefight in which the older brother got killed and the younger one got away.

When I say bandwidth, I’m referring to analog (voice) communications. There are a lot of limitations to analog communications. I’m really surprised that you and he assumed digital communications.

If you find what was communicated (there are people on CC that were listening to scanner communications), let us know. Otherwise, we don’t know.

The report by Deveaux (sp) indicated that there were officers (plural) that were trying to handcuff the older brother on the ground and the younger brother drove the car towards them and they got out of the way. I also read yesterday that officers fired a lot of shots at the car as it was escaping but ran out of ammunition.

"Did you look at the link I posted, Viewer? Apparently they have already left their RI home and put it on the market this week. I read elsewhere that they were in seclusion somewhere in NH. "

Did you notice that in the statement put out by the family that Tamerlan’s name is mis-spelled “Tamerlane”? Appearently the parents didnt know their son-in-law that well at all.

I’m sure that family is under great stress at this time and it could well have been a typo. Tough on the child who will learn more as she grows up.

The Russell home was visited by state troopers yesterday at 730 am. The family was there, in RI. They read a statement to reporters in the afternoon. At the home.

Could also be he used a slightly different name at that house, like Katherine was given a new name when they married. A lot we don’t know. The letter statement was scanned and appeared on the web.

lookingforward, what difference does it make where the Russell family is? People are posting lots of links. I don’t get the continued focus on this detail.

I wonder if Katherine Russell will continue to wear the hijab after this. If she wants to disappear, that is not going to help.

“When I say bandwidth, I’m referring to analog (voice) communications. There are a lot of limitations to analog communications. I’m really surprised that you and he assumed digital communications.”

My DH says that you don’t know what you are talking about and that I shouldn’t even bother to engage you in this conversation. Since his job is emergency communications and interoperability I will take his word for it.

It looks fairly calmly composed to me- although maybe there should be a semicolon in the first sentence and Patriots’ Day seems to be conventionally written as a plural possessive. I wonder how “Tamerlan” is pronounced? I would have thought differently than “Tamerlane”.

Also possible that its a spell checker induced issue, although it would be an obvious mistake to anyone running the spell check.

There was no bandwidth or audio quality limitation on the police scanner feed I listened to all night. It was crystal clear – dispatcher and all of the police radios.

I’m surprised nobody in the media is asking about the police stop of three middle eastern men in a taxi at Charles Circle shortly before dawn Friday morning and the bomb squad being called in to detonate the pipe bomb they found in the trunk of the taxi.

That CNN article adds an interesting piece of data:

There are other stories about the hat brothers making three attempts to withdraw money from the ATM- getting $800 before the daily limit. It wasnt clear why they didnt take out their money early in the week instead of waiting until the chase.

Now it seems it was the car jack victims money. Why may explain why they even bothered with the car jacking and why the victim is still alive.

Let’s not lose sight of what these guys did and who they did it to, either. There is a picture from the crowdsourcing of the one who is alive (I am omitting his name on purpose/ does not deserve to have a name) putting his backpack down and looking at a young boy at the same time.

Well, InterestedDad’s comment basically says that your husband doesn’t know what he’s talking about.

Thanks for the comment.

The bandwidth limitation is how much you can say over a half-duplex analog channel. Clarity can also be a bandwidth limitation. Did you hear the all-points-bulletin that was issued?

Poetress: That is why I am critical of economic explanation for the actions. Nonchalantly putting a nail bomb down next to a cheering 8yo is an extreme mentality. Its not just that he was overly influenced by the brother or that they had a hard time fitting in in US society.
