Well, for starters… I think it’s fair to ask why the FBI had not identified Islamic Jihadist #1’s photo when they had investigated him and interviewed him within the last two years after being tipped off by Russia that he had connections to radical Islamic Jihadist groups?

Is the FBI under orders not to suspect Islamic jihadists in terror bombings? One would think they would go straight to their list of Boston area jihadists, before dinner on Monday. Aren’t they even paying attention to radical Muslims anymore? This guy had all kinds of jihadist junk on his YouTube page.

Some reports say they didn’t have an ID until they fingerprinted the corpse. Pictures and names were released by the FBI at 2 am Friday morning, about half an hour after the jihadist corpse arrived at the hospital.

And, I have to laugh at the NYTIMES searching for a motive… They opine that it must have something to do with sibling psychobabble…

CA, i wasn’t critical at first, but the more information surfaces, the more surreal the entire set of events appears. This is not about being cynical, but realistic. It has been nothing short of a comedy of errors, which will be buried to satisfy the ever-present American selfesteem. All of that amazing show of force led to absolutely nothing. A city was paralyzed for a full day because of botched police operations.

We simply are averse to recognize our limitations and ineptitude. As I wrote earlier, there is no need for a victory lap, and our leaders should really question how prepared we are to stop terrorism here, if our police needs to assemble such force and still fail to corral two bumbling fools without losses, including one who had been served on a silver platter by a foreign government.

And, you just know that Quentin Tarantino would love doing the firefight scene with bombs blowing up, hundreds of rounds fired, and the jihadist hopping in the car to run over his brother!

Yea…does make you wonder a bit how they decided to choose where to search and why they didn’t have where the car was abandoned the center of the search. Scary!

Would have been a good use of the dogs to follow blood trail too, I’d think.

There was a LOT of blood not far from the car younger scum abandoned. They could have given dogs scent from blood in the car drivers seat. Obviously that would have been from the person being pursued. They had so many resources they were not using them efficiently.

I can understand the Watertown police not getting it right at night with the level of communications and spatial analysis available in the field, but, the FBI and Homeland Security and all of the other police departments too? Our local city sent a SWAT team of 30 to assist so I can imagine how big the manhunt was.

I was wondering why xiggi was so critical yesterday but filling in the details shows that he us correct. They did get the guy but they could have had him far more efficiently.

has anyone seen interviews with the homeowner who saw blood on his boat, and then used a ladder to climb up to look inside !!!
seriously, does this person understand English, and the warning of " armed and dangerous"

Idad-

And, I agree with you Idad, that the authorities, knew about Tamerlin, and he wasnt Identified and tracked sooner is scary.
The MIT security man’s death, and Mercedes owner ordeal might have been prevented. Not mention the entire Boston Seige.

That homeowner is so incredibly lucky right now that he didn’t have something really bad happen when he looked in the boat. I’m amazed that he did that himself.

Him and the guy who’s car was hijacked (I’m seriously stunned that they told the guy who they were and didn’t kill him) must be really shaken up because they both had very close calls.

I heard on public radio that #2 white hat has a neck wound that might have been caused by his putting a gun in his mouth, but with the bullet exiting out the neck.

You know, I can understand some cynicism about police and FBI efficiency, but let’s temper it by considering that no one else was bombed or killed after that shoot out. We can hope that they will study their response and improve their process. But I am glad they wound things up as quickly as they did.

As bad as things were with this bombing, things could have been much worse and much more disruptive for Boston area. There have only been two known incidents with dirty, radioactive, caesium-containing bombs–and neither was detonated. Both dirty bomb incidents happened in Chechnya.

Yeah, it was pretty much immediately after. I think word started spreading about the police finding the guy and shots being heard within half an hour of the order being lifted.

I still think there is something up with the Saudi guy taken at the scene. Interviewed, high level closed door meetings off schedule with John Kerry and bam! out this guy goes with no word on what that was all about.

The guy that was carjacked escaped at the Shell Station, ran across the street to the Mobil Station and asked the clerk to call 911. The news snippet on this has been posted a few times on this thread.

There were three of the younger son’s friends arrested too - I read that they were from Kazakhstan on ZeroHedge (financial blogging website).

I’m a trader and absolutely love it when I get lucky and that happens some time but most of the time I need to use my skills to play the game. I was in the area and wasn’t particularly worried about the guy given the amount of time that he had been on the run, that he didn’t have food and water, that there were several thousand LE in the area and that he’s a 19-year-old kid. If he had popped up, he would have been squashed.

I think that the Watertown Police did a good job with what they have available. Listening to scanners (or sitting in a police car) gives you an idea of how crude radio communications are. It would be nice to have a heads up or augmented reality system to display maps and geography but I don’t think that we’ve figured out how to do this in a safe way in a car.

We should have done far, far better when the Federal guys came in though or whenever they had a command center established in the morning.
