Ah, so that information was never broadcast? Is it not possible then that there were other things not broadcast also that might of led the police to decide the perimeter’s limit?

Walnut and Dexter were the south end of the initial perimeter and there was massive police presence up School Street and long Arsenal (the police command center was set up at Arsenal Mall). Early on a TV live shot showed a line of police vehicles heading up Walnut and there were Swat teams all around Lexus of Watertown at Walnut and School. But, towards dawn as they started setting up the organized foot patrol sweeps of streets and positioning cruisers at every intersection, I never heard of activity west of School Street. They were doing sweeps of Laurel and Hazel and Fairfield and Dartmouth and Nichols.

To be honest, I think what thru them off was the huge bomb squad robot take-down of what turned out to be just some poor schmuck at the corner of Mt. Auburn and Upland – the one shown face down in TV video. They spent forever on that and I think that shifted their focus at a critical early time to the area between there and the location of the original shootout. The location of the Mercedes SUV seems to have been lost in the shuffle, despite one officer pleading to set up a perimeter in that area.

Our local paper said the apprehended suspect was swearing fluently so it appears he could speak at the time he was taken into custody, tho is currently in no condition for questioning.

This is a fast moving thread, but I just saw this and I’m not sure if it’s been discussed or not.

Apparently, in the few days between the bombing and capture, the younger white terrorist was partying on campus and even went to class.

Yes, his friends saw him at party Wednesday night, the day before the MIT officer was senselessly murdered.

We’re waiting for a confirmation of that. It may be, like so much else, inaccurate.

" I really just want to know how white terrorist #2 didn’t bleed out "

I hope that is a reference to his hat color and not skin color.

And as far as the conspiracy theories go, what is really upsetting to me is the current level of mistrust and disdain for our government that makes these theories so widespread .

It was broadcast on the scanner. It was just broadcast on the scanner before I personally started listening to the scanner. When this stuff all hit the fan, I turned on the local news channels that were all doing live non-stop broadcasts (mostly from right around the intersections of Aresnal, Walnut, and School. I didn’t find the scanner feeds on-line until later. So, the first time I heard the 40 minutes that BC linked was last night.

I had not been able to find any reference to the location of the SUV before then, despite looking. I was curious because I couldn’t figure out how the perp had walked from Laurel and Dexter to the boat given the MASSIVE police and media presence on School St. But, as soon as I saw where the SUV was abandoned, it was pretty obvious.

I’m afraid the fascination some have with minute details adds to confusion. A lot that’s being “clarified” for us here still rests on the assumption that one or two have gleaned the real story. 100%. If only we’d look at the links, we’d see it, too.
… But some of us disagree enough accurate info is out yet.

None of us know the location or nature of the injuries of apprehended suspect, any measures taken by him to staunch blood loss, etc. he was apprehended less than 24 hours after being shot and was apparently young and healthy. We need to wait until more official info is released. Remain relieved no one else was physically injured on Friday or since.

The only facts I’m assuming are:

a) the location of the initial firefight (and I’ve seen photos that confirm that location).

b) that one terrorist was killed at that location

c) that the second terrorist drove away in the Mercedes SUV

d) the location where the Mercedes was abandoned (from multiple scanner references)

e) the location of the boat where the terrorist was captured (again confirmed by photos) – the boat is visible in Bing map satellite and street view, the empty boat trailer is visible in Google Maps.

Here’s a youtube report about the pipe bomb and taxi.

YouTube

It is the first I’ve read about it since interestedad mentioned hearing about it on the police scanner.

It’s absolutely a reference to his skin color, in response to the reference of him as “Islamic terrorist #2” multiple times.

Personally, I’d prefer to label him as just younger suspect, but since people continue to label him “Islamic terrorist”, I am perfectly allowed to use another adjective.

Thanks HIMOM:

That explains it. The original police call was from Charles Circle, but that was wrong. So this was the same as the Kenmore square bomb incident that was on all the TV news with big bomb squad trucks!

Here’s the regular YouTube link:

[Boston News: Pipe Bomb Found In Cab And Two Unidentified Suspects In Custody - 4/19/2013 - YouTube](<a href=“- YouTube”>- YouTube)

Yes, interesteddad: I know you are playing armchair detective and have actually added some interesting points to the discussion, but if you could please refrain from labeling the suspects or their motives until we have evidence that would be great. They may turn out to be Islamic jihadists but they might also have had other motivations that have nothing to do with their religion or the extremists within it.

What else would you call terrorist bombers who are Muslim, have Islamic terror links and references on their social media sites, and have been identified to the FBI as associating with Islamic terror cells to the FBI? That’s a lot of waddling and quacking to pretend that it’s not a duck…

Oh, please… It’s just a coincidence that the Russian government contacted the US to report that the older brother was known to be associating with radical Islamic terror cells? Have you seen their social media websites?

I have just now started reading this thread, but this seems to me to exemplify the saying, “Two wrongs don’t make a right.”

^ White terrorists. Exactly what I referred to them as. It’s just as accurate of an adjective.

Ame, you’re right. I am incredibly annoyed by it though. Now that I’ve made my point, I’ll go back to calling them younger suspect and older suspect.

I’m from an area with an incredibly high population of Muslim people. I am sick to death of people thinking all Muslims are terrorists (and yes, FAR TOO MANY do) and when I see things like “Islamic terrorist” it pushes my buttons. Today, it pushed the wrong one.

If he didn’t suffer any damage to arteries, his body’s natural clotting mechanisms should have kicked in. People don’t usually bleed out from venous damage.

If internal organs have been damaged, he may still not make it.

The link you posted ends up the same as the one I did, but yours has a more descriptive title. That’s the only footage, other than one link to a private blog I could find on the pipe bomb and taxi in Boston. Doesn’t seem to have been picked up by media and not being mentioned by law enforcement. Perhaps trying not to muddy things or make folks panic?

There has been no official word on the extent of younger suspect’s injuries, as far as I know.
