This unique first-person account offers a window into the mind of a high-functioning, 27-year-old British autistic savant with Asperger’s syndrome. Tammet’s ability to think abstractly, deviate from routine, and empathize, interact and communicate with others is impaired, yet he’s capable of incredible feats of memorization and mental calculation. Besides being able to effortlessly multiply and divide huge sums in his head with the speed and accuracy of a computer, Tammet, the subject of the 2005 documentary Brainman, learned Icelandic in a single week and recited the number pi up to the 22,514th digit, breaking the European record. <p>The Dolphin People is funny and interesting. Horror novels are a good thing to kill time, like The Taking by Koontz.</p>

<p>I don’t know, the book thief isn’t my favorite book. I liked it, but not my favorite or really top 5. Also, if you’re a guy you might not care for it (seemed like a girl-centered book to me). Angelas Ashes is amazing, guy or girl, if you want awesome poverty with a sense of humor (and it’s based on a Franks life too, not just narrated by death).</p>

<p>Or comics, I always think people should read comics, like Ex Machina (because it’s my favorite and non-tights but still cool).</p>
