Booking air tickets

Hey!

Just wanted to know how everyone else if booking their tickets. Are you using a website like makemytrip, going directly to airline websites (if so, which ones) or through a travel agent?

I used makemytrip for the intl’ flight and the airline site for domestic.

Doesn’t makemytrip charge a premium, in return for the convenience of getting to select from multiple flights?

haha, I might have actually lost ~45K if it wasn’t for makemytrip :stuck_out_tongue:
Somebody booked the flight a fraction of a second after my payment got processed and before my reservation could be completed. They called me up asap and discussed an alternative plan and got it done manually. Hard to do that directly on an airline website. Besides, the premium was negligible compared to overall cost.

And are you allowed extra baggage because you’re a student? A travel agent told me that I’d get that if I booked the ticket with her.

Yup… Almost all airlines offer the privilege of extra baggage.
You dont need to go to a travel agent

^true
british allows me 3 bags of 23 kgs each.

I’d suggest contacting individual airline offices and http://studentuniverse.com

Student prices aren’t available online except at officers or the link I just mentioned.

For US-bound I guess it’s 2 bags regardless of the weight.

^ Depends on origin. Flights originating in India are only allowed two bags 23kg each.

Great info. studentuniverse doesn’t seem to have many flights, so I’m leaving that out.

But if you’ve got extra baggage even with a makemytrip.com type website, I’m certainly booking through there.

^ Because not all flights give you student discounts.

If you are flying from India - I strongly suggest you walk into an Air India office. They have the cheapest student fares I have seen. Extra baggage too.

Cool. I’ll try that as well.

@AviatorPenguin Thanks. No discount, but cheap anyway. :)

You are welcome, tiebam! Glad I could help! :)
