So excited to announce that my daughter has selected as a Gabelli Scholar. We are in shock and over the moon.
Congratulations!!
thank you. We are excited
Does anyone know what the BC acceptance rate was? I read it was 10%. Is that possible?
Congrats! Iâm not familiar with it. Is it a full scholarship or partial scholarship?
Maybe. I saw 15% on college kickstart, but I havenât seen it anywhere else
Thank you. It is full tuition and provides amazing opportunities.
it was 15% last year, my daughter who attends BC now said she heard the admission rate was ~12% for this year but has not seen anything official yet
Unfortunately we wonât know until the college releases their numbers. College kickstart says 15% for this year as well based on 35,475 applicants. Hopefully they release it soon
My son went to the BC Admissions page and calculated that he has enough AP credit to graduate in three years. That would be great financially but is that a real possibility? Do kids actually graduate in three years based on AP credit?
Apps Admits %
ED1 2,808 960 34.2%
ED2 1,493 415 27.8%
RD 31,174. 3,825 12.3%
Total 35,475 5,200. 14.7%
Not at BC. We were told they take AP Credits, but you have to replace those credits with other courses. There is no ability to graduate early like other colleges.
This is correct. It will count towards some of the core classes and allow students more flexibility in class selection. They acn add majors/minors or just take classes of interest.
Accepted to CSOM! 3.78 unweighted gpa. 8 aps. Test optional
Adding a full point for an Honors or AP course explains some of these gpas that you see on this site, certainly boosts the numbers quite a bit more than our HSâs +15% for an AP and 10% for an Honorâs course. High Schools ought to come up with a standard accepted practice, a state dept. of education could certainly do that and eliminate the confusing comparisons.
It kind of doesnât matter what the individual HS does, each University completely re-calculates the grades anyway. Which is why I think weighted GPAs are an interesting choice. I guess you want to encourage kids to take harder classes and weighting is a tangible way to do that.
I was waitlisted but I am going to Princeton so wgaf!
A reason for yield protection.
When we visited BC, the admissions officer stated they did not recalculate, they took the GPA they were given.
Our school gives an extra .33 for Honors and .67 for AP. That is a huge disadvantage to kids who are getting an extra full point for both, honors classes especially.
Umass Amherst is one of the few who are transparent in how they recalculate GPAs and their recalculation was higher than our weighted.
Wow. Thatâs crazy. I guess if they get enough kids from the same HS it makes it easy to evaluate those kids against each other.
But how do you compare across Hs? Especially with test optional?
