CollegeMeister on his YT channel looked like he was reading off of something from BC stating ~1000 admits out of 3200+ ED1 applicants (including 115 from QB): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bKQTjuKcM6U&t=113s
but I can’t seem to find the source he is reading from. (timestamp starts ~1:02)
Last year multiple sites reported 960 admitted out of 2,808 BC ED1 applicants. So, it sounds like this year may have been similar, but a bit tighter in terms of the rate due to slightly more applicants. Of course, that can vary a lot by school, in my son’s school the number of BC ED1 applicants almost doubled this year (but the number of admitted students apparently didn’t).
Has anyone received actual “welcome” packages in the mail yet?
we haven’t yet…last year, when my DS received acceptances, it took a week or more to get the mail version. but he didn’t apply to BC.
We have not received any mail yet.
My son got his yesterday. But we are in Massachusetts, so it may have taken less time than for folks further away.
Got it today in NJ
Does anyone know if you are allowed to ED2 if you were deferred ED1?
Yes. You definitely can. Thats the whole point of ED2. Good luck!
You cannot ED2 to BC if you were deferred or rejected from BC’s ED1. You can, however, ED2 to another school. Meanwhile, if deferred from BC ED1 you will be considered in the RD applicant pool if you submit a LOCI.
I’m not sure exactly what you were asking so wanted to provide more detail. Best of luck to you!
Wait i thought they wanted to Ed2 to a different School! I agree it would make no sense to Ed2 to Bc and probably isn’t allowed anyhow.
Thank you very much for clarifying. I think my son will write the LOCI to BC and ED2 to a different school. Will deferrals at BC know if they are accepted prior to the ED2 decisions of similar schools? His second choice ED2 will come out Feb 15th.
ED1 deferrals (I think) find out at the same time as other RD applicants. Last few years have been Mar 21, 23, 24, 25. So it would be after your ED2 school notifies you.
Regular decision applications to BC will receive a decision around April 1st: Early Decision vs. Regular Decision. All schools that I’m aware of send out ED2 acceptances prior to that. Therefore, your son cannot apply ED2 to another school if he wants finality from BC first. Unfortunately, he will have already gotten a decision from his ED2 school prior to finding out about the RD decision from BC.
Therefore, he has a tough decision to make. If BC remains his first choice such that he won’t be satisfied attending another school until he has finality from BC, then he should not apply to another school ED2. But, if he’s OK moving on from BC and would feel excited to be accepted ED2 to another school, then he could definitely apply ED2 somewhere else. He will need to do some soul searching to figure out where his heart lies. Best of luck to him!
this post is spot on. I do feel its unfair to put these kids in a tough spot like this at 17 years old. My son still held on to BC by not filing an ED2 app elsewhere after being deferred ED1 and it worked out as he got in after being waitlisted to BC.
Has anyone out west gotten the admissions packet yet? Hoping today for DD.
Came in yesterday’s mail for us.
Finally came yesterday. She was excited! We booked our flights to Boston for orientation, dorm move in, and family weekend. Now to just enjoy her while she’s still home with us.
This is so encouraging! Thank you! My son is holding out hope. Fingers croseed.

So, the likely date is either Feb 4th or the 6th, though you can never know for sure.
