I’m sure I’ll be asking for lots of advice as the process continues, but right now my head is still spinning .

Bruno-
Why? Just why?
Obviously this person is worried or feeling unsure of what’s next. It’s really easy to just keep scrolling.
(Yes I could take my own advice, but can’t stay quiet with my support unlike you who can’t stay quiet with your critique).
BRUNO99, at least I have two seniors applying to college right now! You seem to be just lurking. Thank you to all for your help—my son is withdrawing his apps today after his ED acceptance.
Thanking those for advice for my ED-accepted son. Always believe, I’m sorry you felt the need to feel upset with me! And again, I have twins (son and daughter) applying to very different colleges now. Do you? Why are you here lurking/commenting?
Why? Because the two prods in 12 hours seems unecessarily harsh so I guess I was trying to stand up for the mom whose kid got in ED. I was in that boat last year (and hope to be again next year…and have a niece applying this year) so it’s all pretty fresh. As is the criticism from people who prodded me repeatedly about withdrawing applications after ED acceptance this time last year. Lurking? Sure…this site has been super valuable to me as someone still in the throes of college applications and all they entail (even though no 2025 grad). I’m all about kindness to others…which is exactly why I said “oh my” when I saw someone get prodded twice in 12 hours when they were hopefully celebrating. I know, I know that’s such a harsh comment (ha!).
I may have lost the source of the frustration going on but I would add a few thoughts. We should be kind and supportive as this is difficult process and a hugely stressful time for kids and parents. On the withdraw topic i don’t see any reason to delay withdrawing EA. I mean the only reasons not to would be to see if you got in and then turn it down or renig on your ED contract both of which are not good looks. By withdrawing your EA you probably give another kid a chance to get in EA rather than get deferred and suffer more stress. That’s my two cents. My D is paying deposit tonight and has not other applications in. Good luck everyone-
Btw I do get there is an emotional attachments to those other apps after so much work. I do recall with my son feeling sad as he turned down his other schools after making his choice. Kind of like a break up after forming a relationship- but I still think if you’re done on ED your done on ED. Count yourself lucky and pay the deposit and have a happy holiday
The only reason one would not withdraw other apps is if you did not get the Fin Aid you needed and will not be able to attend due to cost. Then you would contact the school to withdraw from ED binding contract.
@London I agree. Our kid has mixed emotions because she wants to see if the EA schools would have admitted her next month. She has no doubts about BC being right for her; it’s just curiosity after all the effort she put into applying. However, she knows the expectation is immediate withdrawal/declination so she’s complying.
I totally get that! I know several kids that kept there apps in to see if they got in to another EA school.
Got it financial aid is legit. Makes sense. But don’t they need to let you know before that Dec 13 date ?
Yes you should get your aid package before the deadline.
I reminded my son he needs to accept his admit to BC, and withdraw his other EA apps, as that is what he signed when applying go ED. Thank you all for your advice! I showed him how you said to now withdraw EA apps, which he is doing as we speak! Now we pray for my daughter (only EA and RD for her—she didn’t want to ED anywhere)
ED is really only for kids that have their heart set on one school and will attend there not matter the aid package. My kids did SCEA and used their RD decisions to improve their aid at the SCEA school. Good luck to your daughter!
Got admitted to MCAS: 3.65 Unweighted, 3.89 Weighted. ~ 60th percentile of class
1540 SAT
4 AP’s: 4’s and 5’s
Average EC’s

I heard of two people getting waitlisted at BC this year during ED. I didn’t know that was an option, I thought it was just accept, defer, or reject. Dies that really happen?
I suspect that the people you heard about used the wrong term, as BC only admits, defers, or denies ED applicants. Cut & pasted from BC’s website:
What are the possible Early Decision outcomes?
Should you elect to apply Early Decision to Boston College, you may expect one of three outcomes: Admit, Defer, or Deny. Highly competitive candidates not admitted through Early Decision will be deferred for additional consideration in our Regular Decision round. Candidates who would not be competitive in our Regular Decision process will be denied admission. This allows them to focus their time and effort on other options for college.
Has anyone seen any info on how many applications BC received for ED 1 and the numbers on how many were accepted, denied or deferred?
Someone asked on X and BC_Admissions responded with a phone number to call to get additional details about the numbers. I hope someone calls and then posts it. I’m definitely curious!
