Patrick, for advice, it would help to post your major and your other options.
Anyone know how to withdraw from BC’s waitlist?
Has anyone on the waitlist heard anything? I called and they said we would likely hear by the end of the month.
Haven’t heard anything here.
Note: I was told by a freshman admissions officer that after June 4th (deposit deadline for admits) I should consider sending a letter of continued interest to the person who signed the bottom of my waitlist letter. If you’re still looking to get in, maybe consider sending a VERY BRIEF note saying you haven’t changed your mind about the school.
^ the above contact could probably also work for withdrawing. You’d need to send an email at this point.
Hi everyone,
I was just admitted off the waitlist 6/12 into CAS. I will not be attending as I was just accepted to Swarthmore and plan to go there.
Stats:
Current College: Unranked State School
Entering as a junior
GPA: 4.0
ACT and GPA in high school were low
ECs: Student government, several campus clubs, research assistant, finance internship, etc.
Essays: Strong
Comments: I spent a lot of time perfecting my letter of continued interest.
Just got rejected off the waitlist, but got into Brown/Duke so ¯_(ツ)_/¯
You just never know. Strange world these days.
It should also be said that I am full need. I rejected the offer before I saw my financial aid package.
HUH? You got into Brown and Duke but not BC? I give up…handicapping this acceptance process is too random for me.
@MellowTransfer Congrats on Swarthmore! But aren’t you a little curious, both schools are need blind, wonder if offers compare?
@3sonsmom It wasn’t a question on where I wanted to go and I wanted to give another student on the waitlist the chance. As I am full need I have found that it generally takes a while for schools to post my FA. They noted that if it was a part of my decision I should start contacting the FA office. I was very curious, but did not want to be a jerk!
@MellowTransfer I assumed that transfer applicants received financials with the decision.
Actually no school I have been admitted to so far has had my financial aid decision immediately. The fastest one I have received back was a week and a half.
Hi, so I want to transfer to BC in 2021 which will by my junior year. I decided to finish Sophmore year at my current school (university of Tulsa). I just wanted to have some input on my stats. I applied for BC in high school and was waitlisted but then rejected.
High school GPA: 3.9
ACT: 27
College GPA: 3.5
EC: President of Red Cross Club, Treasurer of and helped charter the Psychology Club, elected Treasurer of Chem Honor club, and member of the association of black collegians club. I am joining the national guard to serve the community and learn hands on eperience in the med field. I also do work-study and will begin research at a brain institute sophomore year. I’m also creating a blog this summer focused on the African American community in America.
I am an African American female, major Biochem and psychology minor, I am pre-med. I believe I have a good reason to change colleges. My school is currently transitioning to become a technical school and is cutting a lot of arts programs. I attend a university that is majority white and racism is a big issue on campus (was a poster on campus stating “white is right, black is wack”). I’m a pre-med student and I’m interested in neuroscience, my unv. does not have that as a major option. Finally cost, I’m an out of state student and my unv. is raising its tuition.
My GPA first semester was not its best due to family issues and transitioning to college. However my second semester GPA is a 3.9, I received all A’s and one B putting me on the honor roll and rasing my overall GPA to a 3.5. I hope BC sees the upward trend in GPA and my EC activities.
Let me know what you think and thank you for any advice. (sorry it’s so long)!!
FYE: BC is where I want to attend, however my second option in NYU. I’m from the east coast and want to attend school closer to home. It will decrease my travel cost by a lot.
