Boston College Transfer Thread - Fall 2019

My daughter just declined her admission so hopefully that frees up a spot for one of you on the waitlist!

@bbfan1927 is there such a thing as a transfer waitlist?

@Bostonmomma BC expects to use no students from the waitlist this year for freshman. Probably a big group said yes. I’ve heard transfers were only 75 deep out of the 1880 or so. Not a lot of room at the inn unfortunately.

Good luck to your d.

@privatebanker I did see people post they had been waitlisted for transfer admissions a few pages back. Obviously I don’t know if BC will ultimately go to the waitlist for transfers or if they will be in the same boat as freshman admissions.

@Bostonmomma Wow you got one of the lottery tickets ! Congrats. Why not attend?

@privatebanker , Sorry for the late response- finals and packed up. I see another poster answered your question but to confirm, yes, there was a WL in 2018. Haven’t heard anything for 2019 except for what is written here.

For those who have been accepted, are you guys going to the transfer welcome day?

Me yes. I want to experience the campus before deciding. I will have to make a very tough transfer decision, and I feel stressed just thinking about it. I pray to God and seek advice from other people.

Im stuck between bc and neu but I think my fin aid will decide

If it’s even close choose bc. It’s a special place. There’s a reason the alumni networks are so tight for so many years.

@privatebanker I believe BC is going to be cheaper but I love the NEU area and that their stats are higher but also Bc is #9 for undergrad business

I can understand if you like the area better. But that would be a first for me. But to each their own.

Rankings which I distrust in general don’t support your view. Despite all the NEU gaming.

Add back in all of the nu.in and spring admits to the numbers. Then back out many of the d1 athletics like football and hoops at bc. It’s a wash. Both outstanding.

In my neck of the woods BC attracts the most attention of the top students.

NEU is super as well. So good luck either way. And enjoy your summer.

@privatebanker Yeah the NEU stats are a little off, in that case, I feel as BC is a better school and I think overall students are smarter but I like how BC has sports and how close their alum are. In the end, I still think I’m going to BC because it is supposed to be around 20-25k, and it #9 in overall business and their alum make more $$

They are both awesome schools and some of the top students in the country.

and neu co op is great too.

It’s up to you to make it happen. Not the school.

I do agree going to the ND BC football games and ACC basketball sounds really fun.

@TTTransfer10 I’m transferring from a community college, and 60 out of my 66 credits are transferable to BC. This allows me to begin the Fall semester as a junior student. I think BC has done a very great job with regard to transfer credits. The only thing that matters is how much financial aid I will be able to receive. I forgot to send my tax return until last week, so I still have to wait until the financial aid package becomes available.

Good luck. You seem prepared.

I took a tour of northeastern and yeah I’m going to BC

See you tomorrow.

I just came back home, still feel tired after a long drive, but it was worth it.
For those who messaged me about the event and future transfer students, BC is an amazing place to be.
What word can I use to describe her beauty? Beautiful? Gorgeous? Magnificent?

The overview section was great. The director of undergraduate admission gave an inspirational speech about the university. The history of BC can be traced back to the 16th century, through the conversion of a man named Ignatius.
Inspired by the lives of the saints and the Bible, he founded the Society of Jesus and began to open colleges around the world with the aim to spread the Jesuit Spiritual Exercises. This tradition is demonstrated in the Core Curriculum which enables students to ask themselves fundamental and philosophical questions such as “Who am I?”, “What am I good at?”, “What brings meaning to my life?”, “What does the world need from me?”

In overall, the Transfer Admitted Eagle Day helped me know much more about BC. I had a chance to talk to current BC students, asking them questions. I definitely recommend that you join this event next year if you get admitted to the school.

hi any advice, just got off wail list, i did not go to accepted student day is there someway i can get something similar, or just go on another tour, thanks for any info!

@Patrick11111 did you send a letter of continued interest or just your final grades? Also a bit confused because BC’s waitlist site says “Please note that we will not be able to determine if any students will be admitted from the waiting list until after June 4, 2019”
