not at all, If they want you to attend they are need-blind so it should not make a difference I assume.
what kind of comments are you guys putting in the comments box?
I have a question: how does the waitlist letter come in? Do they send it alphabetical or do they send only the acceptances from early May to early June?
@20almenendez You will only get a letter if you’re accepted. They start in May. I got in off the waitlist 2 years ago and got mine around June 4th. I think that year, mine was one of the last ones. By June 10th they closed the waitlist. I got an email and had to decide in 5 days. So definitely check your email daily. I can’t remember what day of week I got mine on. Good luck
I have the same question. I mean, if I choose I will definitely attend, there is no binding power to it, correct? I don’t have to commit to BC even though I got in, but I guess it will hurt my relationship with the school. I also assume most people will choose " I will definitely attend", which gives us the best chance.
I don’t think so because the financial situation is still a huge part. I mean the result comes after May 1st, which makes us difficult to choose though.
I have one more question: how do they determine the order in which they evaluate students?
Off the BC waitlist: “Please note that candidates are not rank ordered on the waiting list nor is it maintained on a first-come, first-served basis. Rather, if space becomes available in the class, we will consider those candidates who accepted a place on the waiting list.” The order they evaluate students won’t have an affect on your likelyhood of getting off the waitlist, or at least that’s what they say.
I believe in all organizations there is a process in place. Geography, cultural background, intended course of study and other factors create natural groupings. They will compare the enrolled students against a mosaic. They will find the gaps and reach for the group that fills the need. They will most likely have leaders in each group and will debate them as a team. Once decided they reach out. If a yes. They move on. If it’s a no, they go to 1b and so on.
That’s why you can not take this personally. You may be their absolute number one in your category.
Northeast Catholic school, male, athlete, MCAS bio chem with a hope to follow a pre med track. Wonderful ecs and a legacy. Top of that list.
If they need some more students from the Southwest, Lynch and Carroll openings, music orientation. They go to that list, even though you may be a stronger candidate head to head.
Ya know, or they could just pick the kids who they think would want it the most—the kids that are the most deserving. They let in the kids they did already thinking about the things that make the class well rounded; the mosaic is already pretty set. The 200 kids or so they are gonna let in don’t have the potential to have any significant pulls on the stats of the class…
Agree they have a process, and for sure it’s by school, but beyond that it’s speculation. I doubt they have lists as granular as Northeast Catholic school, male, athlete, MCAS bio chem with a hope to follow a pre med track. Wonderful ecs and a legacy. Top of that list.
Be patient and I wish you all the best ?
If I’m math major with a hope to follow a pre med track, would that affect my chance of getting off the waitlist? I am super anxious right now
When I spoke with my admissions officer, he said that there were factors that play into whether you get off the waitlist or not. For example, what school you applied to because they have a limited number of spots. He mentioned that the management school barely gets anyone off the waitlist. He also told me it could be something as simple and there being too few boys on campus compared to girls. At this point, I think we can all just hope that we fit what they are looking for.
Thank you very much for you information. Hopefully, BC hasn’t had many math majors yet lol. Is math a popular major at BC?
About 50 majors per year, so not large but not tiny either. Good luck.

As an applicant who will need a large amount of financial aid to attend, would this hurt my chance of getting off the waitlist?
@danny201609 You may get off, they just may not give you the money you need…
Someone I know just got off of the waitlist for BC.
Me too someone from my school got off. She has a sibling there, if there is any correlation.
Oh geez. How did they receive notification?
