Boston Transfer Thread Fall 2015

@triple2s I am definitely miffed about this. I would like to know why some of us need to submit spring grades, but yet others don’t. There seems to be no real basis behind it.
Judging by a lot of the posts here, it seems as though BU isn’t giving out any straight answers. Which is frustrating as heck. When I was reading through the 2014 transfer thread the other day, it didn’t seem to be that complicated/crazy.

@mislysBB Couldn’t agree more with you. Things seem to be a bit out of hand this year. Wonder if it’s due to the volume of applicants or whatever…

@WSneijder Thanks for the info! Although the waiting period is now extended (again), at least there is more clarity.

did anyone appeal their financial aid?

@transfer099 I just received my financial aid today and I’m definitely appealing. They only gave me 12,275 when I have an EFC of 0. I’m wondering if it was because I submitted my CSS profile a bit late. I still think it’s a bit ridiculous they expect me to pay $51,000 a year.

@Maggie924210 im in the same boat! I’m waiting back on the appeal but definitely not going otherwise

@mislysBB You are right, considering I got different responses from different officers every time I called them. Things are much more crazy this year. Like I just called BU today, and she told me my application was completed, in which the decision will be available very soon. That makes me so confused, which person should I trust? I am thinking of calling them everyday to make sure what happens to my application now. >:P

@triple2s that is very strange. I think I might call them today as well, to see where my application stands. It still says on my applicant link that they need my transfer college report, which I sent out over three weeks ago…
@maggie924210 wow, they gave you that little of aid? I have an ECF of 0 as well, and that’s not very encouraging…I can’t help but think that BU is erratic with the financial aid again this year.

@transfer099 I plan to appeal my aid. Although I did receive a decent amount, my mother and sister are also in college at the time and in order to leave my instate school right now I will need a little extra help. Not sure how much success people have appealing though. I’ve read that it is on a first come, first serve basis.

also, is anyone else not able to go to the transfer open house? It’s on my last day of finals here so there’s no way I’ll make it. I was hoping to be there to hopefully meet some people before the summer started/orientation…

lol i know waaaay too many people applying from SU, myself included

im applying from syracuse also! @1234transfer what year are you in?

freshman, wbu? @transfer1996

Guys, is there any way I can ask the admissions to release the decision ASAP? I just got into Brandeis and I only have 10 days to think about the offer. Thanks!

@BulatB They seem to have an early review list that you can ask them to put you into. Call them or email them to explain your situation. I suggest to call them, so you will get the answer soon.

@Triple2s Alright, I’ll give them a call tomorrow. Thanks!

@BulatB When did u hear back from Brandeis cuz I also applied to Brandeis but haven’t hear anything yet. If you u have 10 days to response does it mean all the decision will be released before May?

@1234transfer freshman. whats your major?

I was accepted last night a little after 7 to CAS

Here are my stats for those who haven’t heard:

HS GPA: 2.0

SAT R600/M650/W640
M-Bio 670 Chem 670

AP

Psych 4
Chem 4
Bio 3
USH 2

Community College in NC
College GPA 4.0 18 credits
Mid term report 18 credits 4 A’s 1 B in english (currently an A - they don’t know that though)

Rising sophomore

Starbucks 35 hr/week
2 Recommendations - 1 from First semester Writing Prof, one from HS Ap Chem teacher

Have not heard from financial aid!

Other colleges: Accepted Appalachian State, Denied UNC Chapel Hill, have not heard back from The University of Southern California

I think having the spring mid term report is why Boston accepted me and UNC did not.

Good luck to all!

For those accepted, when it lists all of the classes under transfer credits, are those the ones that transfer? or are they just listing the classes you are trying to transfer?
