Best of luck to all still waiting to hear!!!
Accepted members: come join the facebook group, the rest of the polar bears are excited to meet you!! :)

Rejected! Oh well haha, I already got accepted to another of one of my schools (with ridiculous merit aid too). I hoped to add Bowdoin to my list of acceptances, but whatever, I never really had a preference for any one school :P.

accepted! after some rejections, this feels good. congrats to all accepted! and to all those who did not receive an acceptance letter, i know how you feel. just know that things will work out!

@JoBenny and @Opaline, I agree. They were much nicer than WashU (but perhaps that relies solely on the fact that I was rejected at WashU and wait listed at Bowdoin, haha)

Rejected. I don’t care. I got rejected from my dream school which made Bowdoin’s rejection seem meaningless. Oh well, congrats to the acceptances!

This was the rejection letter:

Dear Sydney:

During the past few weeks, the members of the Bowdoin Admissions Committee have been deeply involved in reading and evaluating Regular Decision applications.

With regret, I write to inform you that you have not been offered admission to the Bowdoin Class of 2017. Your materials were reviewed carefully by several members of the staff before being considered by the full Admissions Committee. It was clear to us that you have accomplished a great deal during your high school years, and that you have the potential to do well in college. Unfortunately, given Bowdoin’s small size and competition for admission, it is simply not possible for us to offer a place in the class to all of the candidates who possess such potential. I am sorry to have to deliver this difficult news.

My colleagues and I wish you every success as you pursue other applications and continue your education. Thank you for considering Bowdoin, and for taking the time to prepare your application.

My daughter was waitlised. 2400 GPA, 3.94 uw GPA at college prep. private school, (lots of financial aid), NMSF, Presidential Scholar nominee, AP Scholar, gold and 2 silvers in national Scholastic Arts and Writing, lots of EC’s,low income family. She thought Bowdoin would be a safety school.

^^^Good grief. No way I’m posting my son’s stats if that’s what a “rejection” looks like! With credentials like that, she’ll have other schools waiting in line for her!

JoBenny, unbelievable, huh? Now she thinks she will be waitlisted or rejected everywhere she applied. I thought Bowdoin is need blind admissions? Top student in her school. Another classmate, (rich family), with mediocre stats got accepted.

I know it doesn’t help in the “heat of the moment” but there’s no doubt she’ll have other wonderful opportunities. Maybe since she’s probably towards the top of Bowdoin’s curve they figure she’s probably applying to Ivys and they didn’t think they were a serious consideration? Who knows how this all works…I was shocked my son got in.

Waitlisted. I must say, I’m a bit surprised, considering I’ve received offers of admission from a couple of Ivies, and several much more competitive schools.

2400 SAT, 4.00 GPA, National Merit Finalist, US Presidential Scholars Candidate amongst several other recognitions. Also an accomplished singer and actor. I thought my essays were quite excellent too. Ah, well, Bowdoin wasn’t really near the top of my list anyway. Congrats to all who were accepted!

Did you apply for financial aid? She was deferred to Stanford REA and waitlisted to the University of Chicago. She applied to Harvard, Yale, Brown, Columbia, Pomona, Barnard, Scripps, USC, and Vassar.

We definately need aid. Same situation…indi private school on scholarship. She’s working the big dogs! I hope she gets lots of great news in the coming weeks!!

@aksoccerboy - Waitlisted as well. Remarkably, everything in the second paragraph of your post applies to me as well, without exception!

Congrats to those accepted, and best of luck in other college plans for those waitlisted or rejected.

Thank you, Jo Benny. Basically she will need full aid at all of the schools she applied to.

i basically need a full ride too…

waitlisted: wellesley, bowdoin, uchicago
accepted: washu

i got in :)
does anyone know if the FA listed is per- semester? it says subtotal is like 12k for the fall andd then the same thing for the spring. does that mean im getting 12k a semester? cause that would be awesome…

@watson221: congrats! join the facebook group. And yes, it’s per semester!!!

i’ve requested to join the facebook group but no one has accepted!!

Yeah I don’t expect them to add all of us until their office opens again, probably tomorrow.

i think we just have to wait until the admissions officers wake up and check fb
and btw congrats Ea & barvoets
