Bowdoin Class of 2028 Official Thread

Another theory for the withdraw button being there for some but not for others:

They’re inputting decisions, at which point the withdraw button disappears. However, based on what I remember from the Purdue thread, sometimes this is done alphabetically. Might be misremembering? But for example, a last name starting with C might already have their decision inputted and withdraw button removed, while one starting with, say, W might not have been gotten to yet and still has their withdraw button. Of course, there’s still a possibility it’s tied to the result itself, and an even greater chance it’s none of the above. Still though, has anyone with a last name late in the alphabet had their withdraw button removed? Or perhaps anyone early in the alphabet that still has their withdraw button?

I’m not really early in the alphabet, more middle as my last name starts with J, but I still have mine

Hey, I’ll take that data point! One more thing I find interesting- I haven’t clicked on my withdraw button, but when I hover over it with the mouse I can see that the link it’ll take me to is just the “my profile” application portal page as opposed to a separate form link like the other options on the page (so basically the same thing that happened to @New_Thrill the other day). I’ll keep an eye on it to see if that changes. Anyone have access to the actual withdrawal form?

Again, this probably means nothing, but speculating is fun while we wait

Same!

I do have access to it now. If you actually click om the withdraw option a form pops up asking you to affirm plus “which college will you be attending” lol!

does it show this for everyone?

Last name N, I still have a withdraw button. Weird. I dont see a link either way though on hover.

True. I assume they make the decision on whatever software they use and it automatically updates the portal. But I may be wrong and from what ik some people get accepted before others do. Especially true for internationals.

Or it could be done by the AO reading your file.

Yes who knows. There have been years (i don’t think recently) when colleges sent out the wrong notifications, accepting people who were actually rejected. So I wouldn’t be surprised if there is some sort of human double check to confirm that everything is in the system properly.

The 2027 Bowdoin thread went through these same theories and they were disproven upon release of decisions. These portal updates don’t mean anything about your ultimate acceptance/denial.

even if the portal changes don’t directly mean acceptances/denials, it does mean decisions are being made, so do we think it could be released earlier than Friday?

Personally, no. Although oddly, when I submitted some additional information (just got to know about those last Saturday and I sent it to colleges anyway because why not), Bowdoin congratulated me for my achievement and said they added it to their file. Most other schools responded with, “it is too late now”. Maybe the Bowdoin team was just being kind lol. I think they will release along with Amherst and Swarthmore this Fri or Sat
