Congrats to everyone who got in!
Rejected ?
DS accepted! Super excited!!
He did do the video response, but not an interview.
Waitlisted! Honestly was expecting a rejection haha
My daughter was accepted also. Yay!! She also did the optional video response ? Congratulations to you ??
I was accepted (with the Faculty Scholar Award) – didn’t do optional video response (I forgot that there was a deadline lol) but I did do an in-person interview.
My daughter was accepted, which is wonderful. The downside is we didn’t visit before she applied and now it looks like she’d have to commit without even the possibility of doing anything more than looking at the campus (and driving 8 hours to look at some buildings doesn’t thrill me). I was really hoping schools would bump back the May 1st deadline because of the closures.
I was waitlisted
I wonder how many people Bowdoin waitlisted this year.
I was waitlisted and two of my friends got waitlisted too.
I was rejected in spite of 800 in Math II, 780 in Chemistry, 770 in Physics(All first attempt). (Did not submit SAT score only SAT Subjects)
Perfect GPA
7 years of student government.
Best C++ programmer in the country in Google Kickstarter and Hackerrank. (Won various national level awards)
Partnered with the biggest multi billion dollar bank in the region to develop an app that helps thousands of people in poverty.
Interned as Data analyst for a multi billion dollar MNC.
Two times winner of International Mathematics Olympiad, Regional round.
Representing the country at an international level for quizzing.
3 sports varsity.
4 amazing recommendations.
Just one drawback - International student requesting for high financial aid.
Guess somethings aren’t meant to be.
@THeMoMo My son is in the same situation. He is excited and grateful to get the acceptance, but nervous about figuring out which school is actually the best match. We weren’t able to visit several schools. We were counting on accepted student days and other visits in April to help him figure it out. I’m hoping schools consider pushing back the deadline. I guess we are all taking this day by day.
@THeMoMo @ruediww Our S19 is a freshman at Bowdoin. If you have any questions and want to PM me, please do. I’ll do what I can to help. Just for some background, our S was looking almost exclusively at LACs. We are from Chicago. He was accepted to Dickinson, Grinnell, Kenyon, Hamilton, Carelton, William and Mary, Middlebury, Davidson, and Bowdoin. He narrowed it down to Davidson and Bowdoin and chose Bowdoin in the end. Really loves it.
Accepted after being deferred ED! This is crazy!!
I visited (though their CDS says they don’t consider interest) and did an on-campus interview + a video option that was totally super awkward but I guess not terrible!
My daughter was accepted. Great news!
We are in CA and realize we will not get a chance to visit the school which is a bummer. Looks like we will have to pay the full tariff and all cost. It is a lot of money! They did give her few thousand for research.
Waitlisted…applied test optional even though I had a 32 ACT. Rural, URM and started a newspaper at my school. My supplement was on the weaker side. Kinda bummed but I applied to 26 other schools so hopefully one pans out.
Rejected… after being deferred ED. Not surprised but disappointing still after such a long wait.
Waitlisted, 3.99 unweighted gpa, 34 ACT score, 1460 SAT score, international applicant
Son denied after deferral. Very hard processing right now. He wanted it so badly as his dying ( now dead by 3 weeks Grandpa) started there but had to drop out due to medical issues. Crushed.
SAT 1460
UW GPA 3.75
Great ECs
Good to great recs
Good to great essays
Good interview

BUT did not do the optional video because we have no computer mic and can’t do it on iPhone. Should have maybe found a computer with a mic.
Still a crushing blow.
Congratulations everyone who was accepted or waitlisted. Love Bowdoin with everything you have there are those out there who could never be there or finish who loved it too. ( Very emotional-sorry)
Does Bowdoin waitlist a lot of people?
I’m so, so sorry Charlie2772…it’s hard when your child has their heart set on a school and it doesn’t work out. It’s little consolation, but it could’ve come down to something as small as your geographical location, or the major he chose. It’s all seems so incredibly random, particularly since we never have any idea why an applicant was rejected. I hope your son finds somewhere he loves just as much as Bowdoin…my daughter was so sad when rejected from her ED school, but after continuing her college search by reading boards and watching videos on youtube, she realized that almost everyone thinks their college was wonderful, and the perfect fit for them and that what that really means is that wherever they go will be what they make of it. If they want to love college, chances are they will no matter where they go…I hope that in 2024 your son looks back at this and thinks “wow, I’m so glad I went where I did!”.
