Brands of jeans for teen girls with muscular thighs?

I am dreading back to school shopping with D. She has crazy long legs, but of late, the size of her thighs has also really grown. It’s all muscle, but that doesn’t make finding jeans any easier. Other than her scary thighs, she’s skinny as a rail.

Do you know of any brands that are cut fuller in the thighs?

I have had this problem too. I was a varsity swimmer and have 35" long inseam.

Try the Buckle. They have absolutely fantastic jeans, and while they’re very expensive, if you get them on sale it’s a great buy. I highly recommend going into their store if you can, as their staff is very helpful and can help you find cuts that fit you. (I think the BKE Wendi cut and some variation of Lucky Brand jeans are the ones I have)

For a cheaper version, try Alloy.com – they don’t have stores, but from reading the reviews you should be able to tell what cut fits your daughter.

I think Gap has some different cuts that might work.

Try the Gap’s new(ish) “Real Straight” fit. My 14 yo goddaughter, who is 5’10" and built exactly as you describe, just bought a couple of pairs and is really happy - and so is her mom.

We have the same problem. D is not tall, but has “athletic” thighs and butt. We spent all day last Saturday looking for jeans. We found some that work at Banana Republic.

As a mom of a former gymnast i feel your pain. We always could find a some that fit at PacSun and Kohls.

We have that problem at our house, too…and D insists on those skinny jeans. Shopping for those things has been no picnic. We finally found that the JC Penneys house brand skinny jeans in long size will work for her.

She’s complained to trainers and coaches and they always congratulate her. :)

missypie…this month’s Glamour magazine has several pages of what kind of jeans to buy according to body shape. I believe they recommend relaxed boot cut and dark wash denim to draw your eye away from the thigh area.
D1 is an athletic build due to years of soccer. She likes Seven jeans the best. Has gone away from Gap because of the quality. Most brands will make a cut to fit different body types. Talk to the people who work in the jean department…they know! If I remember correctly Express, Joe’s Jeans (Honey Cut), and Lucky has some that fit that body type as well.

I had a friend (younger) with a similar problem and she swears by Buckle.

My D2 has the same issue, although she is rather on the short side (5’2"). She says Gap has some good stuff for the tall girls, and American Eagle has certain jeans which are noted as “stretch” denim.

Good luck.

Seven jeans (not Seven for All Mankind) work for me. You can find them at Stein Mart and TJ Maxx.

Don’t be afraid to try jeans marked as curvy. I have no waist & no hips & athletic thighs, so I would think the straight up & down jeans would work, but have a pair of DDs hand me down Gap curvy jeans that fit quite well, I would never have tried them…perhaps curvy does not mean hourglass, but rather muscular?

My daughter the cyclist wears Lucky jeans.

My sister, a fashionista with muscular thighs for her petite frame, found some at JCPenney. I think they were Lee relaxed fit but cannot swear to it. She ended up saving around $150 off her usual brands.

Thanks everybody! I forgot to add that we have to be able to buy or at least order a really long pant - 35" or 36" - in a 0 or 2. (That’s an improvement over when she was a 34", 00 - the only source of jeans was one style that we could order from Delia’s.)

Buckle is a dangerous place. They have the best salespeople ever…the only place where I know they’re doing a sales job but it’s not offensive. But if I buy one D’s jeans there, I’ll have to buy the other D’s jeans there…and then we’re talking $1000 easy!

My daughter - size 6 with muscular thighs- wears American Eagle. She can’t wear Old Navy Jeans.

That’s exactly what my daughter the dancer wears. But even their longs are too short for my daughter the gymnast turned cheerleader with legs longer than some guys who are 6’.

We went into the American Eagle store and I was a bit horrified by the prices.

“My daughter the cyclist wears Lucky jeans.”

I second the Lucky brand jeans. My daughter is a swimmer and did triathlon for four years and the only jeans that fit her quads were Lucky brand. They were expensive but at least they fit. She started rowing in January and we are back in the same boat (no pun intended!) with jeans. She can wear some styles of American Eagle and Abercrombie jeans, but Lucky brand still fit her the best. I only buy them on sale!

I would agree the Buckle is a dangerous place as far as their salespeople go.

But Alloy.com has good jeans for a good price, and their inseams go up to 37" on multiple cuts and styles.
