Brexit appoved! NOW what?

And some of us thought Scotland would’ve been shooting itself in the foot and are agnostic on the Catalonia question.

Predictions by economists have not proven accurate in most cases.

Who are the “many”? Iirc, the English were quite happy the referendum for Scottish independence failed. I’m sure they will not be happy when Scotland (and it’s oil) goes.

There isn’t that much oil left.

Moving some of my cash into the market this afternoon. I’ll take my opportunities where I can get them.

^ It’s still something they have that England doesn’t.

@TomSrOfBoston, indeed, and if you want to adhere to the will of the people, then Brexit=Scottish independence.

There are some of us who think the UK staying in the EU and whole would be ideal for Britons, but if England votes to split off from the EU, then surely Scotland should be allowed to split from England (and join the EU).

@GMTplus7, neither of those two. The EU loses, but less than the UK.

“This callous attitude it part of what drove the Exit vote and is driving support for you know who in the US.”

Exactly, Tom. It is clear what the majority of voters want, and it’s not an open borders immigration policy. People see their own pay, benefits and living situations declining, and are watching the administration double down as far as immigration goes. It’s unbelievable how tone deaf they are, let’s encourage tens of thousands of unaccompanied minors to show up at the borders, let’s ignore the law and make our own policy, come on in, it’s all free! Maybe we’ll get you health care while we’re at it, none of this costs a thing. And people are thinking–I can barely support myself, I’m going deeper into debt, and I resent this. Don’t use my money this way. But nobody is listening.

I fear that HRC is doing the same thing, giving an unexpected opening to the other guy. The complete tone deafness is completely responsible for the rise of someone who could be a tyrant, and I am horrified.

I think much of the same attitude was the problem in the UK.

I have a friend who thinks this was all put in motion by Putin. He bombs Syria, refugees flood into Europe, Europe destabilizes and starts imploding. He sits back and happily watches Europe come apart.

Greenwitch, do we have the same friend?

Great friends think alike!

I think we all have a conspiracy theory friend or two. Makes life more interesting.

@busdriver11, why are you horrified? From reading your posts over a long period of time it seems to me you wholeheartedly agree with those arguments.

I’m sure Putin is loving this. However, weren’t there floods of refugees before he started bombing? Hate for him to get all the credit.

@busdriver11, Putin support for Assad is/was crucial to keeping that regime afloat and was a key reason for the flood of refugees.

You may not want to give him credit, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t know how to play the West well.

MODERATOR’S NOTE: Please keep away from political posts about the US. I’ve had to delete a few posts. And yes, I may have missed a few since I don’t look at this thread 24/7.

Now there’s talk of a “Texit”, oh, this is becoming a bit comical.

I’d support that!

Standard & Poor’s says it’s reviewing the UK’s credit rating, hinting a downgrade of at least one notch is likely. They say the exit vote will likely “deter investment in the economy, decrease official demand for sterling reserves, and put the UK’s financial services sector at a competitive disadvantage compared with other global financial centres.”

Who gets Texarkana?
