Brexit appoved! NOW what?

We can build a wall like they did in Berlin!

I’ve never been to anywhere in the UK. I’d love to go but I have other expen$ive travel this fall and that is that.

This was a stupid thing to do but I hope they’re OK.

The biggest losers are the many economically-strapped EU countries-- especially the former East Block nations – nations which, frankly, depend on EU’s largesse without having to give up a lot (currency, taking in refugees, etc.) EU can totally use the loss of England as an explanation for giving them less support and money. France, Germany, etc. will weather this crisis. They’re rich, resilient countries. As is Great Britain, which will certainly lose a great deal - but not enough to plunge it into penury or chaos.

We could do a Flexit here in my state.

Hmmm… For us, it would be Waxit. Sounds terrible. We are staying.

I usually skip over FaceBook jokes but I liked this one:

“Lose many pounds overnight with this one weird trick the EU doesn’t want you to know about!”

I don’t think GB will lose a lot in the long run, assuming they are able to work out trade deals with the EU. A temporary setback, and possible minor recession, probably, but long term permanent damage? I doubt it. The UK has a solid foundation for economic success.

Poorer EU members have more to gain by staying in the union. The trade benefits are just a perk thrown in to keep the ball and chains on the rich ones.

They’re gonna to have to call it something else. GB is England, Scotland and Wales, and UK is GB plus Northern Ireland. If Scotland goes, there is no UK nor GB. Maybe just call it Rump Britain.

“The UK has a solid foundation for economic success.” assuming Scotland won’t breaking away. See http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-scotland-scotland-politics-36621030

I see a lot of stammering on the parts of the leave leaders this afternoon. Won’t even answer when they are going to trigger Article 50.

There has been talk of Texas Independence long before there was and EU this is nothing new…

^Waxit - Washington state? Why?

“If Scotland goes, there is no UK nor GB. Maybe just call it Rump Britain.” How about EW?

Too much fun with Brexit!

Yup, WA. We are staying… But we might close the border to CA tech migration. They are driving our real estate prices up! Just kidding.

Not MN tech migration, though (that was me).

Yeah, Scotland won’t be sticking around.

Good analysis of what happens to the UK (specifically London) after Brexit:

Some companies may keep their European HQ there, but the sun will set on the City. The international banks will slowly shift away. The Americans would prefer an English-speaking country (and English would still be the lingua franca of finance and many other fields), so Dublin and Edinburgh (after Scottish independence) will come courting.

Some of us are wishing Texas would leave.

O.M.G. Hopefully we don’t have a majority of Americans who do what these nincompoops did.

What do you expect when the news media continues to pump out anti-Brexit propaganda all day? I mean, of course people are going to second guess their decisions in that type of environment…
