Interesting to say the least.

Whoever brought up the reality show was right on the money. In our paper this AM, Johnston’s attorney said he couldn’t comment on the possibility of a reality show until the end of the week.

^^^ I wonder if Sarah Palin will guest star on it. But she may be too busy and in that case, Tina Fey could step in and that may make me watch.

People get divorced all the time… Not a big deal anymore. Nothing wrong with giving it a try in this situation.

^well are they going to “give it a try” or actually commit to the marriage.

I don’t have a problem with divorce but I don’t think “giving it a try and if it doesn’t work we’ll divorce” is the right attitude to go into a marriage.

He is 19 and does not have a high school diploma or GED. He is not gainfully employed except through his connection with the Palins. He is also never going to be a Palin, even when married to Bristol. It’s going to be a tough road for him. I hope both he and Bristol are mature enough to make this work.

I got married at the “right” age. I’m divorced. I saw a relative a few weeks ago who got married in circumstances not unlike Bristol’s. 30 years later, they are still married and unless they are faking it seem to be incredibly happy together. I don’t think anyone other than the two of them thought they’d make it. Yeah, I’ve read the statistics, but people aren’t statistics.

Alaska is a different place. There are more opportunities there to earn a living with brawn. Levi may well be able to earn a good living. Sometimes too the responsibility of a wife and child can make people grow up fast. So, lets hope for the best.

I really thought the statement the Palin parents put out was nauseating. On the other hand, the latest blog entry by Levi’s sister Mercede is pretty nauseating too.

That said…has anyone else seen the (spoof) Walmart wedding registry for them? It’s pretty funny.

Wonder what the prenup will look like. A divorce in this case could be quite messy.

But, always hope for the best…
This is a hoot:

This is from Sherry, Levi’s mom. Is she hinting maybe Bristol is pregnant? If so, WOW, maybe abstinence REALLY doesn’t work!

I don’t think money is going to be a problem for them.

Money problems? Not if this comes to pass.

I think their couple name should be Painston although Brevi might be easier for the couple to remember how to spell.

I honestly feel badly for both Bristol and Levi’s moms to have had their kids tell the media about their engagement before telling their own parents. Yes, I can see why the kids were reluctant to tell their parents due to disapproval, but still, it would be very hurtful to learn it from the media first or to know the kids told the media before you. I realize the parental disapproval for both Bristol and Levi is going to be challenging and a difficult situation.

I wondered about Bristol’s choice to have Sarah find out through the media. Actually, given the family history, I perceived it as an act of healthy independence, she was under her mother’s thumb throughout the campaign and imho all the PR decisions were about presenting Sarah in what Sarah believed would be the best light for her political career. Bristol does have the right to make a personal choice based on her own and her child’s needs and wants.

And doing it that way sells more magazines and provides chatroom fodder. Smart marketing decision.

Who knows? Maybe lots of angry 19 year olds would announce their plans through the media if they had media attention…

Patti Davis seemed to do a bang up job using the media to get attention for her points of disagreement with the Gipper.

I guess if Sarah can’t stop this wedding she can at least spin Levi’s Playgirl photo exposure as “following in the tradition” of President Reagan.

LOL, I think that all of us who have parented or are parenting teens and young adults should be very thankful that the media would not see fit to publish their greivances against us!

LOL, I think that all of us who as teens and/or young adults made some serious missteps should be very thankful that our parents did not see fit to orchestrate the disclosure through the media of these missteps!

My first thought was that this is all a game - Sarah’s team is actually in charge and everything is being cleaned up in time for a political run. If so, it is being done brilliantly…Sarah will be viewed by many as a typical parent who is not thrilled with the situation but is rolling her eyes and accepting her daughter’s choices. It will play well.

Could be. She just has to pay Levi enough to stay on the straight and narrow throughout her campaign.
