Brockman Foundation Scholarship - HS Class of 2020

do we know that the awards weekend is even still in March? I thought I read (I can’t find it now) that they would notify everyone by May.

The May deadline is in the frequently asked questions. I think it has said May the whole time, but I could be wrong on that. Seems unlikely they would change the weekend though. Events like this are pretty involved. They reserve rooms, plan menus, schedules, activities, etc for the incoming scholars. If you consider all the factors and people a change of date would impact, it seems unlikely they would do this, particularly with no announcement with 2 1/2 weeks to go.

Howdy! I’m new to the thread and my son interviewed back in Jan. We just attended a meet and greet dinner with TAMU admissions in our town and one of the reps said the Brockman event is still on for the end of the month. They didn’t know any details about who will be accepted since it’s a separate foundation from TAMU just that it was definitely on the calendar. So I’m with y’all HOPING for good news soon! I know God has a plan though and wherever my son will land, will work out for the best. I appreciate everyone’s updates and just wanted to chime in with this news.

Thank you for the great info. My daughter also interview back in January and she felt really good about it…we are still super hopeful to hear good news, but understand God has a good and perfect plan either way ;-). I agree that if the string of acceptance offers (beyond the first small round) had gone out, and we are playing the odds, someone on this thread would have likely received one, as it seems like about 1 out of every 5 will be selected. With the number represented on here, surely someone would have heard something by now. Continuing to have faith in the wait with all of you. Best of luck this week and congrats to you and your child for making it this far. I know first-hand, lots of hard work, dedication and sacrifice has gotten them to this point and they are all so deserving to receive such an honor!

Hey everyone, just got an email from the Brockman Foundation, and I got rejected which is sad, but at least they’re telling people of decisions now. Best of luck to all of you!

Ditto above, rejection…but I know it was a big deal to even get the interview so I will definitely remind my son of that! I wish you all the best too!

Mklee2534. You are in good company. My daughter got the regret to inform you email this morning. We are sad, too.

Congrats to those who get Brockman.

Good luck to everyone with college!

Same here. A huge let down for sure, but still super proud of all these bright & hard-working kids. Congrats to all!

My son just sent me the the same rejection email. So disappointed for him but also super proud of him for getting this far. Congrats to everyone who was offered a scholarship. What an amazing accomplishment.

Ditto! My son just got rejected as well. Super proud, but so disappointed!

Same. Such a bummer.

We are all in the same company. So disappointing for my son: 4.19 GPA at a college prep, currently taking 6 APs, 35 ACT, Engineering Internship at Zachry two years in a row, Study Abroad experience, building houses for the poor, 3 page decorated resume…I could go on and on. My biggest disappointment is for other students we were going to pay it forward to by giving them scholarships to attend A&M by the money we would have saved for our son. However, I am sure all of you feel the same way. I am sharing your disappointment with you.

My son was rejected for the Brockman scholarship today as well. It was a good experience for him, and we were very honored that he was even considered. Since the Brockman Foundation interview on Feb 1st, he did find out that he was appointed to The United States Military Academy at West Point (his 1st choice and dream since 4th grade), so we are 100% certain that (again) God’s plan has put our son where he should be. Truly sorry for all the other fine young students who were not selected.

Congrats to your son on West Point! He must be a very impressive young man.

I wish we were all in College Station right now and we could meet up at the Chicken, have couple drinks and talk about how amazing our kids are!

The Chicken would be a great idea today, or any day really. He’s okay…like any 18-year old boy, he’s got a few flaws, but he has always taken his academics and EC’s seriously and has done the most with the talents he was blessed with. Thanks for your well-wishes and best wishes for your daughter. If she does end up at A&M, she will (obviously) love it, like everybody does!

Same news here! I’m sure it was so difficult to choose between so many amazing students. Knowing that God still has amazing plans for all these kids!

Sorry to all those that have received rejection emails. We haven’t heard anything yet, which hopefully is a good sign. Who else did not receive anything today? Anyone get an acceptance?

Wow. I am so sad reading these especially from some that I feel like I know by now. Congratulations to @PAAggie204 on the West Point Appointment! That is certainly a HUGE honor! I know that all of these kids are destined for greatness.

Hoping for some good news from @Hurricane314 @AggieDadHopeful @KSRent @preston1007 @Tzutse and @blityr123

@AeroEngMom Sadly, a rejection on this end too… I’ll admit, I took the news better than I thought I would, though - that’s a sign of maturity, if nothing else. And I got some interview practice in.

Sorry, A&M, but it looks like I’m going to be a Longhorn :)! Best of luck to all the others! Y’all are going to do great things either way.

On another note, is anyone’s son still looking for a roommate? Obviously, I know we all have amazing kids based solely on the achievements that I have read on this forum. My son will be an Applied Math Major who is wanting to live in Hullaballo.
