Brown 2024 Waitlist

@BobbyMaye I did! I called the admissions office and was told that the only letter that counts is the one posted as a status update. The woman I talked to didn’t even bother to ask for my name or reference ID, which probably means more people called them to confirm their status. Very disappointed in Brown…

wait I still don’t have any status update. What does that mean?

Not to be that guy but screw Brown for saying they’re need blind for the waitlist only to take only full pay kids off.

This along with the whole admitted student checklist gaffe should make them ashamed of themselves.

Just called the admissions office. People who got rejection letters last week are out of the running. They said it was a good proportion and probably a majority of applicants who were released. People who have not received anything are still in the running for possible admission. They plan to extend the waitlist until the end of July.

Honestly at this point I give zero eff whether I’m admitted or not. I just want to get it over with, and it’s been too long a process to handle.

@eashwar1 Do you mean that people actually received an email from Brown about waitlist? Or are you referring to people who momentarily had the rejection letter put up to their portal?

The waitlist has been extended to the end of August - the Q&A pdf on the portal got updated.

so waitlist is still in place when the fall semester starts for pretty much every university…?

I think it is another way to say they are full or over and will not make any more offers unless something dramatically changes in August. You know, go full online and some students decide not to enroll.

I could be wrong though?

lol if brown goes online I’m definitely not enrolling

Shouldn’t Brown be sending out something, given that the original decision letter said that the waitlist closes today? If it is being extended, I would think they should send something out. Also, did some folks already get rejection letters? If so, what fraction do you think?

What’s the deal with Brown honestly? If they extended the waitlist from June 30th to August, they’re supposed to inform the remaining waitlisted applicants, rather than let us figure that out on our own.

This waitlist process has been so exhausting, as an international applicant this has been beyond frustrating. If I get an acceptance letter in August it might as well have been a rejection letter. It will most likely be impossible to get a Visa in less than a month :frowning:

@survivingontea I am so sorry to hear that… I pray that you hear back soon

@survivingontea I doubt they will accept international students in august if there is no deferral option. Has the US embassy opened where you are? I know that at my end it hasn’t and I am hearing students are being told to defer by their local sponsors

absolutely ridiculous by Brown… keeping people on the waitlist with no update after June, giving people a heart attack with a false update on their portal that turned out to be rejection letters, keeping international students on the waitlist until late summer when they can’t have the option to enroll in time, not to mention obviously taking into account financial needs… I’m starting to wonder if it’s really worth it to go to a school where behind the veil of an elite institution all it takes is a change in circumstances to show them crumbling.

Brown should give some type of update as this is a bit ridiculous to keep students like this with no word. Of course, students of course should never take waitlists like these too seriously, but it is still ridiculous and cruel by Brown.

They cant really manage their waitlist this year remember every school has kept their waitlist open. Issues Brown will have they are waiting for the international students getting their visa. I bet its not helping that they cant control their EDs who can defer or change their mind as their financial situation will be impacted now. It’s a mess to all schools and all will show in sept when students enroll.

Honestly, you should all just assume you are going to the school you are in and be pleasantly surprised if you get a call from Brown. What is with all the stress? It should be nice to know that there is an outlier but you already have a plan in place that you could and should focus on.

Not yet! And with cases skyrocketing here, it won’t be open anytime soon.
