Brown Class of 2028 Official Thread

I got it 8pm EST yesterday…

it is supposed to be a good sign, below the colleges, you should see a list of required documents and you should see the documents they are asking .

Ok cool, maybe I still have a chance lmaoo I haven’t gotten one :frowning: I feel like that’s a good sign tho

I just don’t understand why they would be asking for documents this late if they knew they were going to reject me. Maybe it’s just an error…

just wanted to add that i was a Brown ED applicant and I got the IDOC request late november/early december (ED decision release was dec 15th), and i got straight rejected , so not sure how indicative the idoc request is. might still be an indicator but it certainly wasn’t for me lol  good luck guys!

Mostly this late, its a really good sign… it was for us with USC. The FA office even told me that I could submit the docs by next week or so( when that day was decision day )

You are assuming a degree of communication/coordination between Admissions and Financial Aid that usually does not exist. As in, Admissions is not typically giving Financial Aid information about the decision on individual files, including because Admissions may well adjust decisions at the last minute.

I’ve been hearing that admissions and FA do not communicate but when I was on a call with the Harvard FA office (due to an unrelated issue) they told me that they only look at FA after the student is admitted. I realize that these are two different schools but everyone keeps making it seem like all schools FA offices operate the same way and I’m just confused.

I definitely do not think all colleges necessarily operate exactly the same way, but most colleges I know about do some form of parallel process because it can take time to do things like resolve any issues with documentation, and meanwhile many admissions decisions are not really final until late. Indeed, usually they have a financial aid documentation deadline well before the admissions notification deadline precisely for the purpose of giving them time to make sure they have everything they need for everyone who has applied for financial aid.

So I would find it a bit surprising if Harvard literally did not do anything involving financial aid until after all the admissions decisions were final, but the thing I have heard about that would possibly track is that financial aid offers are not necessarily finalized until admits are finalized, including for budgetary reasons.

Still, you talked to them and not me, and Harvard is not one of the colleges where I have read anything about their financial aid process.

I agree!! I think the only astrology that I personally saw to be true was the UC Berkeley one for HS class of 2021.

the idoc correlation is only for rd applicants

if you guys dont trust me just look at past year’s reddit posts for rd megathreads or for people in the past cc threads about brown rd decisions, at least all domestic applicants who received one in early march got in and those who didn’t post anything, i dm’d them and they all got in. but this is to say that it might have changed this year. but based on how many didn’t get it vs how many did get it it seems about right for the ratio

Does anyone on here have a withdraw button?

nope, it’s gone

Same, but I’ve seen several people say they still have it which is weird

I also don’t see a withdraw button, who does?

who?!

A couple people on reddit and on zeemee say they still have it. I’m not sure what this means tho and if having one would be a good or bad sign, or not a sign at all

are they saying it on a2c?

Yes I saw someone comment on the Brown RD megathread that they don’t have the withdraw button but someone replied and said that their daughter still does.
