*** BS/MD Interview Notification for Class of 2014***

No. I’m awful at foreign languages but not having with won’t tun you down for an interview. Nice to have but not necessary.

@harminder30 I have my BU interview in about a week and I did not submit or take a foreign language SAT. I called them about it and they said it was just recommended, not required, and will not negatively affect you.

@MedicalBoy and @Wasian88, thank you so much, that gives me some hope.

@SLCMom, @class1417, and @medicalboy- so sorry to hear about HPME rejections!

@harminder- I didn’t submit a foreign language SAT II either. I don’t think they really care, it’s just seen as a bonus if you have it, like MedicalBoy and Wassian88 mentioned. Good luck!!

Thank you!

By the way, my daughter called RPI in response to an email saying “you received a postcard recently about your application status…” - because we never did. The admission officer didn’t give her any news except that they have a backlog. I still think no news is bad news because not only did we not hear from RPI, we never heard from AMC, but guess we’ll just have to wait. Thought I’d just share that the admission officer said they haven’t sent out any emails because of the backlog.

Congrats and good luck to folks going for interviews soon. Anyone has good news to share about Northwestern HPME? I have to say, while I may be disappointed for my daughter when we get a rejection, everytime I hear somebody getting an interview I get a happy “yay! someone made it!” feeling - sorta “at least one of us beat the system!” kick. :-)

@starlight27: Thank you!
@Wasian88: Good luck on BU interview!

Son just got his invitation to the med school interview at Texas Tech BS/MD program, although we are not sure if he would be eligible for the program since we will be relocating out of Texas in the summer. Well, we will cross that bridge if he gets accepted.

I cant focus…I keep jumping up whenever my phone beeps an email notification!

Do the HPME rejections/acceptances come in waves? Or have all the rejections been sent out?

I would guess that notifications r still being sent out

rejected from Drexel/Drexel and REMS got UKMC interview havent heard back from Kean/Drexel or NJIT, Drew, or Rutgers

Got interview notifications for RPI/AMC and Union/AMC.

Rejections last week: Case Western, GW, Drexel/Drexel. Lehigh/Drexel

@shanny101, congrats on your interview invitations for the RPI/AMC and Union/AMC programs.

@SLCMom- Keep hoping for RPI! I’m sure no news isn’t bad news- they still send out notifications to the end of February. Also, I got the “you received a postcard” email but never got a postcard either haha.

@AspiringStudent- Still haven’t heard from HPME either. I keep on freaking out a little every time I see an email notification too.

@zryzor- Notifications from HPME are being sent out until mid-February.

@starlight27
Thanks and I hope you get an HPME interview!

Same goes for anyone else waiting.

That’s one of the few good things about being old(er) - just stress no freaking out (not enough energy)!

Does anyone know what the VCU interview process is like?

So I was wondering, for HPME, I self-reported my GPA to include 1st semester senior year since that was my current GPA, but I sent in an unofficial transcript that showed my GPA without 1st semester senior year (b/c that transcript was the most up-to-date one and b/c HPME said it didn’t need to be sent 1st semester senior grades). I did specify in the self-reported grade section that my GPA included 1st semester senior year, but will they still only consider what was in my transcript?

My other stats/ec’s are fine, but I wanted to give an honest portrayal of my GPA. In retrospect however, I think I overthought self-reporting my GPA though… >.<

@IMGDAD congrats on texas interview. I would not even mention that you are moving.

My S got Albany interview invitation through Union and RPI today!!

@Midhelper, congratulation to your son on his interview. Actually speaking to my son this evening and noting that we are moving up to the Northeast, we are discouraging him from going to his interview at Texas Tech or UMKC. Our argument being that he already has the BS/DO offer and even if he does not get into either U of the Sciences program, SBU/GW program, or the Drexel partnership program, he can always go to the BS/DO program. We can test to see how much he really wants the MD instead of DO. If he wants it, he would work hard and if he gets good grades, he can always apply out to an MD program instead. He is going to think about it. ?Bad parents!!!
