BU RD Class of 2022

@leapyearG My S was accepted to RPI with the Medal. Please post what you think of RPI. S accepted to BC no merit. BU acceptance today into Kilichand with O merit. 0 financial aid. How can we justify $70K a year? My S thought he could compete for the Presidential which would bring us into a somewhat palatable tuition range. 5.2GPA, 34 ACT, Football and Baseball (captains), NHS president, Catechist, Tutor, etc etc, essays and recs above average. Not sure what else he could have done to earn his way into a merit scholarship. :frowning: We will have a lot to discuss this week. Waiting for ND and Harvard decisions but their price tags are the same. We welcome thoughts/feedback from this forum to help with a decision.

@TomSrOfBoston how does the waitlist work then?

Accepted into CAS and Kilachand Honors! No scholarship though.

Waitlisted for Questrom Business School
SAT : 1330
Full IB Diploma with predicted 40

Accepted to the Questrom School of Business with 35,000 in grant money. I was quite surprised because I heard BU was very stingy with financial aid. Is that a typical financial aid package?

thats exactly how much I and a bunch of other people got @lavender187 , it’s a really good package all things considered and I’m also shocked bc I thought I was gonna be one of those accept/deny people with my stats

Accepted into CAS! But no scholarships so probably will not end up going to BU…

@jackmack001 congratulations! That’s a wonderful achievement!

where does trustee award show up on the decision site?
thanks

Got waitlisted for Questrom with 1370 SAT and Full IB Diploma with a 36 Predicted as an international student. Surprising because I was pretty sure I was going to get rejected

@introtoxx and @lavender187 , my D was also offered a $35,000 grant. I am grateful for it because so many have received nothing.

She was not offered Kilachand which did suprise me, so I wonder if there’s a correlation ? Kilachand, but no $ OR $ but no Kilachand? A new conspiracy for @TomSrOfBoston, haha. She was accepted to Sargent.

@maralyn99 All colleges accept far more students than the expected class size. It is expected that 80%, 70% or whatever will turn down the offer. Only if they are not at their desired enrolment level by May1st will they go to the waitlist. Individual students indicating that they will be turning down the admissions offer has no effect on a waitlisted students chances.

Accepted to the College of Engineering
International student
4.5/5.0
Studying at the best high school for STEM in my country, so it is really academically challenging
Robotics project at a local university, 2 varsity sports, several leadership positions, a few regional olympiads in Physics, Math, Computer Science
SAT 1340
Math II: 800
Math I: 750
Strong CommonApp essay with an extraordinary topic
Strong recommendation letters

Still can’t believe I got in, given the fact that this year’s acceptance rate is so low. It seems to me that my CommonApp essay’s thesis perfectly matched the idea of “Societal Engineering”, so that is probably why they accepted me. And yeah, it was about me collecting dog feces and I believe it was really funny. I also attached a pic of me collecting and holding dog feces, but I highly doubt that the admission office has seen it.

For the future applicants, I recommend writing something unique and truly extraordinary. Don’t be afraid to push the boundaries of these essays. Think about the admissions committee that reads thousands of essays. Your essay is YOUR opportunity to stand out!

P.S. Does anyone know the acceptance rate of the College of Engineering specifically? Is it higher than the other schools’ at BU?

Accepted to the college of Engineering!!
International Student
1330 SAT, 86/100 General Average
Completing the French Baccalaureate diploma
Decent essay, heavily involved in soccer, and some decent hours of Community Service.
I applied for Electrical Engineering however, my acceptance letter only states that i was admitted to the college of engineering and doesnt mention the electrical emphasis whatsoever. Does that mean that i will be able to make my choice again once i have completed my freshman year? ( choice as in Computer Eng or Biomedical Eng)

Rejected :frowning: :frowning:
Heartbreaking! Not even waitlist.

Very sad because I grew up hearing about BU legends. I went through all the challenges coming back to the States, always dreaming about the school. Not giving up, probably will try transfer later.

Congrats to all who got accepted!

@TomSrOfBoston, the more accepted students turn down their offer, the more chances that some on the wait list will get a chance no? So what @maralyn99 wrote makes sense.

@jj1999, it is very difficult to gage the chance to get picked up from the waiting list. I’ve come across numbers from other schools and some years they do pick up quite a few from the list, other years not a single one. The best approach would be not to count on this to happen and move on to the schools you’re accepted to. Good luck!

@Winky1 I’d rather the Scholarship $ than Kilichand! I confess, I don’t understand what exactly the benefits are Kilichand are? D was accepted into the program.

@williamNYC It was her use of “inevitably” that sparked my response Last year BU was overenrolled and didn’t touch the waitlist. In years past they have only accepted a handful from the waitlist for specific programs.
