@larkin29 Full Tuition meaning merit? Loans? I just can’t get over my S getting into Kilachand with NO AID and NO MERIT. [Thanks for listening forum!]

@jackmack001 I believe you are mentioned on BU’s class of 2022 website about your coin drive. congrats

@al3400 Thank you! Can you please direct me to that website? I’d really appreciate it.

@whitelillies I found the Trustee Scholarship decision under the Decisions Tab on the Applicant Portal, in a sub-tab called Scholarship Award Decision. I also received a letter in the mail on the same day the decisions were released on the portal.

@evb2000 I would like to tell you how happy I am for you and your family. We were hoping for the same. Happy, however, to be admitted. My S’s essays were pretty amazing as well Being a football linebacker and then writing about his new experience/love of art through Finch’s 9/11 piece of work – “Trying to Remember the Color of the Sky on that September Morning” was amazing. HIGHLY recommend students visiting the museum if you haven’t. Not a dry eye there. What a bittersweet experience. Anyway, the essays he wrote were also “out of the box” and also showed his “diversity.” For those students who don’t use their Presidential…does the University then offer the unused scholarships back out to other students? $420,000 out of pocket for a Master Degree is not affordable.

@MinnieFan THANK YOU for the invitation…I will find you on this forum later today. I could use a little background on the college admission process (and counseling).

DD waitlisted. 1460 SAT and 3.9/4.1 GPA. Lots of ECs, leadership, awards. Surprised, frankly, but happily she has other choices, including NEU.

For those wondering if one college within the university is looked down upon vs. the others… once you are at these big universities, no one cares which program you’re in. And aside from maybe the first couple of weeks during orientation or when you’re first meeting people, no one really cares if you’re this type of scholar or part of any particular program. And after a while, no one will even know or remember. I went to NYU and no one cared if you were Stern, Tisch, CAS or Gallatin. You’re all students in the same boat, living in the same places, etc.

Congratulations to everyone! Does anyone know if the Richard D Cohen Scholarship is new this year (for the entering 2022 class). I read somewhere that all students who are eligible for a Pell Grant are awarded this scholarship. Just wondering if this is correct.

@hopeful129 Cohen was new last year. It is aimed at Pell eligible applicants. Not sure if they all receive it.

@TomSrOfBoston Thanks for your quick reply! I probably should mention why I’m asking. Last year DD was accepted with a need based scholarship of $35,000, which we were extremely grateful for. (EFC 0). She was also given about $11,000 in loans though and that still left a net amount as well. I know they also look at the the CSS profile, but i’m pretty sure that didn’t effect anything. (I could certainly be wrong though. No home equity, no retirement, assets, etc)
She did receive the full Pell Grant amount ($5,xxx). So, that’s why I was wondering. Thanks again, Tom!

I got in to CAS and KHC with the Richard D. Cohen scholarship, and I’m so excited. I had always been told that BU was awful with financial aid and scholarships, so this was a huge blessing. Though, a lot of other people who were accepted into KHC were saying they didn’t get much aid at all. I thought that was so weird, but to my knowledge there are still some opportunities to get scholarships at this point, if you look on the BU website. Congrats to all who were accepted!

I was also wondering if students may get additional awards after other students turn down admission offers and awards. My D received 23,000 so it would sure have to be a lot more in order for her to attend.
