I built a productivity Chrome extension using a proposed method and spent hours upon hours doing it. I am not completely finished but had enough done that I could enter my school science fair. I did qualify for regionals but am starting to doubt the ability of my project to succeed compared to other complicated-sounding projects.
Here’s my question: Should I turn my extension into a business? Or continue with science fair?
I am planning on going to the highest level (states) for science fair if I qualify (which I probably will-- it’s fairly easy to qualify). I have the possibility of receiving awards and prizes, which is great, but my biggest goal is to get into Intel ISEF, Intel STS, Siemens, or Google Science Fair. Just qualifying for one of those would be beyond amazing. However, I’m not sure that my current project is the best way to achieve my goal.
Another question: Would colleges rather see me qualify for a prestigious science fair? Or would they rather see me start my own business?
I’m not going to base my decisions off of colleges, but I really want to get the most out of making this extension.
