<p>Though I have obviously thought that Clinton is a better candidate than Obama for some time, the reality is that I think factually that curmudgeon has the right of it on this one. And I say this as one of those Clinton supporters who would rather see Obama win than McCain - though I must admit that McCain has some compelling policies</p>
<p>IDAD, love your post number 31. Where did you conjure up that rude, offensive, presumptuous and completely inappropriate response to my post. When/where did my post say one thing to which you allude?</p>
<p>And you preface your post with “all due respect”. Give me a break.</p>
<p>I’ll tell you one thing, though. It’s a damn great country, America, where Senator Obama will be the democratic nominee. A damn great country.</p>
<p>Whenever I see “HRC” I think…Her Royal Clinton. I’m not saying anything pro or con about her…but these initials just remind me of HRH.</p>
<p>This has been an unbelievable primary year, and very interesting and exciting. My college age kids are interested in this presidential campaign because of these two strong democrats. I think there is much positive that has come from this.</p>

<p>You have no standing to tell any Clinton supporter (or any other voter) what they can or cannot see or how they should or should not vote for your candidate or any other candidate. Clinton suppporters owe the Democratic Party and the DNC nothing. Not allegience. Certainly not a vote. Like all voters, they will weigh their options and vote accordingly for the candidate of their choice. Party loyalty isn’t something you demand. Votes have to be earned.</p>

<p>Obama’s victory speech for tonight. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a speech hit the internet before it happened. Kind of anti-climatic.</p>
<p>I’m watching Hillary’s speech. As you all know, I’m not a fan. But every once in a while the mask slips a bit and we get to see what’s underneath and I wonder what might have been. The “I see you” portion of the speech was spectacular and I defy anyone to say that it wasn’t heartfelt and sincere. The rest of the speech was just a speech, but that part was special. I wonder if Hillary had locked Bill in a closet and been sincere as a hardworking and somewhat plodding candidate, could things have turned out differently? Don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t have voted for her anyway, but the candidate in New York was very different. Obviously, on a much smaller scale, but it seemed to work well for her to be a little wonkish and a lot engaged on a micro-level.</p>

<p>Second, I have the standing to state whatever opinion I wish and don’t need your approval. </p>
<p>Third, at no time did I mention a demand for their loyalty or to anything to which you allude. </p>
<p>Most importantly, nowhere, as your post #31 indicates, did I call anyone stupid or a racist, although I suspect that as to a fit for that shoe, you are most likely Cinderella, although the poster in #67 looks to also be a likely contestant for that honor.</p>

<p>I always see the good side of Hillary more than I see the bad side. She was always hardworking and I think in her heart she believes in what she was doing.</p>

<p>No, but we all owe it to our country to cast our vote for the candidate that we think will be best for the country. For a Clinton supporter to vote for McCain out of revenge or spite is unpatriotic. Furthermore, anybody who claims to have supported Clinton because of her position on the issues who switches over and votes for McCain is, in my opinion, stoopid.</p>
<p>There is no question that Hillary Clinton’s supporters and voters have been painted with a very broad-brush:</p>
<p>As racists, voting as racists; as ignorant, and voting with ignorance; as stupid, uneducated out of touch --name the ad hominem and it is there.</p>
<p>My wife is a big Hillary supporter. She is not a happy camper.</p>
<p>I hear it all from her. Fwiw, my wife is neither a racist, ignorant, out-of-touch, uneducated or just plain dumb. In fact our marriage is inter-racial as are our children. She is, I believe rightly, offended and angry over the way one half of the Democrats have painted the other half as ignorant and racist. To her, to say she was wrong would have sufficed. </p>
<p>It really is unprecedented. </p>
<p>Not since George Wallace ran as a Democrat have these accusations flown about so freely within the party: Wallace was a segregationist.
It would take less than a minute to find repeated instances wherein those that either support Barack or oppose Hillary have impugned Hillary’s voters as possessing either a racists or ignorant disposition. Usually both. It’s really amazing.</p>

<p>The American-dopes in the broad middle that all these candidates having been going through intellectual contortions for in an effort to hack into their politics and interests. They all claim THAT is who they really represent. </p>

<p>As I understand, many of these Americans claim to be smart and honest. </p>
<p>But don’t take my word for it…could be wrong. After all, I’m one of them --and who’s going to believe a lying stoopid guy like me. As you say.</p>
<p>About those “bubba” voters that Curmudgeon mentioned–I think that they are not as predictable as one might seem.</p>
<p>I spent this past weekend on a farm in Michigan, visiting a good friend and meeting his extended family. These are people who should epitomize the Reagan Democrat–blue collar, non-college educated, white, work at jobs like farmer, factory worker, truckdriver, mechanic. Salt of the earth.</p>
<p>they are also smart and pay attention to things. And to a man (and woman) they were Obama supporters. My favorite was the guy in blue jeans and white t-shirt, droopy mustache and droopier drawl, saying: “Ah *want *mah president to be smarter’n me.” Didn’t have any “elitism” issues.</p>
