BYU PHSCS 106 Independent study

The link to the class is here:

1) Has anyone had experience with taking this course on BYU Independent study? I want to know how difficult the class is and how much work is involved. Can anyone relate this course to the difficulty of the Advanced Placement (AP) Physics B and C: mechanics/e&m courses/tests?

2) Also, on a side note, what is the difference between “applied physics” course and a “normal physics” course?
