Pretty bummed, but I was accepted into UCD yesterday which is pretty exciting. Both were top schools on my list. Waiting on UC Berkeley now!

@cdubs61 Congratulations! When did you actually receive notification?

Why can’t Calpoly just send the rejections? That should be the easiest category.

To clear up any confusion, I called the admissions office about what “no defermination” means. They said that no determination means they simply haven’t reviewed your application yet, meaning there are still more acceptances, wait lists, and rejections to come. People who are saying no determination means rejection are spreading misinformation.

@christianparham I feel like they are required to say that even though trends show rejections are next to come out. Hoping I’m wrong though!

@christianparham I sure hope you are right , but it doesn’t make sense to send out waitlist then go back to acceptance. My daughter is anxiously waiting. When did u call them?

It seems they wouldn’t be able to send out any acceptances for a major without reviewing all of them since they rank them all by MCA score.

@catsandcandles I have similar stats and I was waitlisted for environmental eng as well. also a female. best of luck!

@jkasali @meb1meb1 Yes! Keep that spot! Seems like all waitlist spots are extremely coveted this year! Best of luck to all of us! My daughter and I are certainly ready for this painful process to come to a peaceful ending

I called them on Friday! I’m in the same boat

@EugeneCrabs Do you know your approximate MCA score? I’m still waiting to hear back.

DS still waiting. Aerospace Engineering; In State; 34 ACT; 4.21 W UC/CS GPA

Admitted to Georgia Tech (Aerospace Engineering) and Purdue (FYE). Probably going to GT no matter what happens with SLO, as it’s a hands down better program and not impacted.

By the way, the drip drip of decisions is just plain wrong. SLO needs to get its act together. Either declare that it’s a “rolling admissions” school or release on the same date. Other schools do it.

They have reviewed all apps. And by review, I mean calculate MCA.

@Coopy1 , sorry I have not been on the thread for a few days. Yes, my son was wait listed on March 8th.

I’m starting to make peace with the idea that my son was only waitlisted and not accepted to the school. If they had space for him in the program, they would take him. Feels like a polite rejection. I am stunned this thread has nearly 3/4 of a MILLION views. Seems like interest level nearly approaches Washington/Michigan/Texas/UCLA level.

@84stag Congrats on some fine acceptances. I agree Cal Poly could improve its admissions process. And I understand your frustration, but there is really no need for statements such “as it’s a hands down better program”. I personally think they are both excellent AE programs as do many in academia and industry.

@84stag said regarding Georgia Tech, “…as it’s a hands down better program and not impacted.”

Impacted, by definition in the CSU system, simply means there are more applicants than slots for the major, and some applicants will be turned away. By that definition, GT is absolutely impacted too.

As for “hands down better” all I can say is…based on what? No doubt GT is a solid program, that produces good engineers. NO DOUBT. Class sizes are much larger, and the use of TAs to run labs and discussions is widespread. Plus, where’s the beach?

Students at GT will certainly have more opportunity to do research, but if you want to be involved in CubeSat, it’s hard to pick a better program than CP. That’s where it was invented, the standard is still held, and many are launched from. CP launched 16 CubeSats on a fairly recent SpaceX Falcon 9.

My point is this, as @choroidal said, they are both top notch AE programs. Which is best depends on what is important to the person doing the vetting.

I received an email first, then it was in my portal. Sorry, just logged back on.

Daughter waitlisted for Sociology on March 8…hoping cal poly Pomona answers soon, we still have no decision posted on portal.
