Rejected in CompSci with 4.36 CSU GPA and 1490 SAT?
In state too, got into Davis
whatever
A teacher told me that SLO and UCSB talk to each other and if a student is admitted into one school then they aren’t admitted into another? Is this legitimate information?
Please tell me this was a preschool teacher.
Rejected

Rejected for bio sciences
Have any international students heard back yet? Im technically OOS (Born & raised in California), but I go to an international high school (ISKL in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) and therefore I believe that I am being considered as an international student. I still have yet to hear back.

@jcraft18 Here is the stats of last year’s admits: https://admissions.calpoly.edu/prospective/profile.html
I’m assuming Econ still falls under OCOB so the stats are: AVG GPA:4.01 ACT:30 SAT:1390
If not, Econ is in CLA: AVG GPA:3.95 ACT:29 SAT:1343
Either way, you stand a good chance of getting in with your IB/SAT stats. I’m currently been living in Germany for 6-7 months now. I have done some research, I believe after one year of living away from CA, you’re considered an OOS/International depending on your situation.
I find it odd that you haven’t heard back as Internationals heard back weeks ago//and the first (maybe only) wave of denials have come out yesterday. So hoping for the best for you!
@candylover132 I don’t think so. a handful of people from my school got into both. It’s weird they’re denying so many high stats apps, though.
@candylover132, no, many students are admitted to both, every year.
Has anyone had a chance to review their ‘financial aid’ packages? I say that because there’s not much aid to be had, at least for my daughter. With two kids in college our EFC,according to the document, is around $21K. No works study, no token $1k for academic success (1480 SAT 4.0 UW). Package consisted of $28k in loans.
DS accepted
In-state
CSU GPA: 4.36
SAT: 1470
ECs: Good
Major: Biomedical Engineering
Should have mentioned, In State.
@sandiegodad2017 Because tuition is so low for Cal States, you have to be pretty low income to get significant aid. Basically if you don’t qualify for cal grant, you will only receive loans. We have noticed dorming at cal states will be significantly more expensive than living at UC’s when running NPC. UC always shows university grant for our income, making them more than 10k cheaper than CSU. Everyone’s situation is different, but it’s a financial no-brainer for our family if S18 gets accepted to a UC.
@ariz345 Yes, admissions are still coming for the transfer applicants.
mine still says waitlisted
@CopperlineX2 - thanks for that - yeah - still waiting on a few UC’s here. I did run the NPC’s and there is some aid to be had at the UC’s, albeit not much, but every bit helps.
Everyone is not on level play ing ground with SAT @Coconutty in fact people with learning differences are known to have “bad test days” and struggle with tests that go for more than an hour. GPA is a measure that occurs over time. Also, all majors and interests have value and are reflected in a GPA but the SAT is only a measure of your English and Math skills.
@candylover132 No, I don’t think they should be even talking to each other. Plus, CPSLO didn’t (or had very little) spots for applicants to deeply explain themselves for who they are. People still say UCB and UCLA talk to each other, but in reality they’re both separate, but their criteria is almost the same.
Got rejected finally. Major was too impacted is my guess.
All that getting rejected at SPSLO means is that there were X spots in your major, and at least X kids with MCA greater than yours. It doesn’t mean anything else. It has no bearing on whether you will or won’t be accepted anywhere else.
