Both of my son’s are in engineering and both on track to graduate in four years; if not earlier. Neither of them have had trouble getting classes. But, I understand fro some majors getting classes is more difficult.
I met a kid who is a senior at Purdue just this week. He loves the academics and social life there. He was not in love with the area. I have family in Georgia and they all love Tech. Hard to go wrong at either place.
@84stag, sorry your son was not admitted. I agree with everything in @choroidal’s excellent summation. Your son will do well no matter where he lands.
As for graduating on time, the engineering curricula are about 20 hours longer than the rest (200 vs 180). That said, my son is also well on track for a timely graduation. In fact, he’s ahead. As a Senior, he has finished the bulk of his Masters requirements. He’ll walk in under 5 years with a BS/MS. Students who don’t get out on time tend to dodge professors, times, or need to repeat classes.
We are in the same situation!
US Citizen lived abroad for the last 12 years so 9th to 11th grade abroad - 12th grade in the US.
Called admissions office yesterday, was told they are still reviewing applicants with International Curriculum both foreign and US citizens.
Is there anyone from International Schools who has received a decision from SLO?
Per his “To Do List” i sent in my son’s official high school transcript (through Parchment up to the end of his first senior year semester) and test scores directly to SLO (even though I previously sent them to the CSU general #). Now, instead of “Conditional Admit” his portal Application says “You are cleared to enroll at Cal Poly pending receipt and verification of your final official transcripts.” This is a bit of a relief…
I got in for Business Admin at the beginning of the month. Here are some numbers:
Weighted GPA: 4.1
ACT: 29
SAT: 1320
ECs: Many, many hours of volunteering and work related to my major
I’m also taking 8 classes my senior year with extreme academic rigor
I recently confirmed my intent to attend SLO (undergrad) through the Student Portal. When will it be possible to use the student email address? Is the email address the calpoly.edu one or will we be provided a different one?
Rejected.

everyone keeps on listing ECs and other stuff, why is that? i thought SLO like all CSUs only looks at gpa and test scores?
Although you are right that it is a CSU, Cal Poly does take into account into its admissions process if you were involved in ECs (how many hours & if you held any leadership roles), Volunteer Work, Internship/Work that pertained to your major. If you checked those boxes, it boosts your MCA, which they use to score/rank applicants.
Why is there a fee?
This fee includes dinner on Friday, breakfast and dinner on Saturday, and Sunday brunch. It also includes a commemorative t-shirt. Please bring extra cash for lunch on Saturday and other activities in which you may want to participate while in San Luis Obispo.
If you are in need of financial assistance, email the coordinators to explain your need and to receive a separate registration link.
