Cal Poly Class of 2022 Thread

Hi everyone not sure if anyone can help me but I’m in a bit of a situation. So I was notified I was waitlisted in early/mid March. Communications major with 31 act and 3.91 CSU gpa. When I did my cal state application it said that no colleges used information from the activities section so I didn’t need to fill it out. I did not realized cal poly uses the MCA system to rank applicants which takes ec’s And work experience into account until a stumbled upon a post in this thread that mentioned it. My question is if I don’t make it off the waitlist would this be a good reason to appeal? Since the info was not included? And am I better off taking my chances with the waitlist or just appealing? Any help would be great thanks everyone.

@laurenfarb, unfortunately no. Cal Poly expressly states that application errors are not a sufficient reason to appeal. Sorry.

@laurenfarb if you answered the questions about how many hours you spend in activities and work, whether your activities included leadership, whether work is related to major, then mca will include. I’m pretty sure that MCA is not affected by the the descriptions of activities that are in the optional section of the app.

got in to pomona today 4/6 with 3.2 gpa and 25 act

Congrats! I am also a City and Regional Planning Major. See you soon fellow CRP brethren!

@kauailove, my DS recd scholarship notification two days back… I think his portal is updated with that info.

@WCbound awesome! Is it in the same place as the financial aid summary? What’s his major?

@kauailove My D too for bio sci. The scholarship is for CPS scholars but doesnt seem to be a part of the plan that includes housing, support, etc. so we are a little confused. How about your S? @WCbound

@kauailove, @hatethiswait, I don’t know the exact details. I will check with him and update. He just told me that it is on the portal. BTW, he got accepted in CS major.

Okay so, regarding housing, does cal poly have no method of choosing your roommate preferences like ‘messy or neat’ or ‘like the room hot or cold’ like other schools have? Are the living communities the only method to choose who you will be living with? And no way to choose which dorm?

There is no way to guarantee which dorm you get, they assign living communities to halls based on size compatibility. As for roommate selection, the school does not provide a “matchmaker” system. You must find someone also attending and request each other as your roommates in your Housing Application.@laurenshay18

@crazsoccer11 @momamet congrats on being accepted!! we’re you notified through your portal or via email?

are waitlists usually larger or smaller than the amount of students originally admitted?

@jennieloren I was notified via email! And quickly after checked my portal and saw the acceptance through that as well

Those who were accepted, would you please post to the final status thread, so future applicants can easily search. AND…CONGRATS!

Were the waitlist acceptances only for mechanical engineering today? It seems like a lot of ME students got off today. I’m still waiting on my Bus Ad
