With tomorrow being a holiday, I wouldnt think decisions would come out tonight at midnight. But who knows?? I guess they could wait until the end of March if they need to. It’s a painful process, but they’ll (we’ll) all know soon enough.
Haven’t they historically come out during the day?
Does anyone know about that “outreach” scholarship for OOS students? Do all OOS students get it, or are there requirements. An OOS student we know gets $2,000/year.
@Coopy1 Is that a weighted or unweighted GPA? I’d give her a good shot. Very competitive process. Best of luck to you
@xafl134 that is her weighted GPA and thank you
I doubt any decisions will be released during a 3-day weekend.
Last year the $2000 OOS outreach scholarship was renamed Green and Gold and became $1000. Not everyone gets it.
@Coopy1: Your daughter looks like a competitive applicant but with Bio being a popular and competitive major there is no guarantee. Projected acceptance rate around 12%. Best of luck to her.
@Gumbymom thank you
@Gumbymom sorry to bother you again what are her chances for UCI?
@momamet The Outreach Scholarship used to go to all OOS students at 2K for 4 years. Then they changed it last year to the Green and Gold and 1K and not all OOS received. The word is they will no longer give this scholarship to OOS students - and in fact plan to raise tuition 2K per year for incoming OOS starting this fall until 2021 when it is 8K more per incoming OOS student. It is called the Opportunity Fee and although it is being discussed with much opposition, many feel it is a done deal. So all incoming OOS students should be well aware the costs are going to be a lot higher this fall and beyond. Also, with a quick look at housing/food costs for next year they have increased substantially as well.
@Gumbymom where do you find the department admission stats? Just curious - my daughter applied for biochemistry.
@giddyup Any word on when yhe 2018-19 tuition and room and board fees will be published? I cannot find them. As an OOS family, these increases are making Cal Poly SLO much less desirable. It was the only public California school my kid applied to because it was the only one that would be somewhat reasonable with our ridiculously high EFC.
@ksquaredmom the tuition and dining aren’t published yet but the housing for 2018/1029 is at: http://www.housing.calpoly.edu/student-housing/freshman-housing/freshman-student-housing-fees
Further down that page, you can see the 2017/2018 charges to compare the change.
We’re in the same boat as you. We’re also OOS and CP was the only public CA school based on affordability with a high EFC. If our D gets accepted, the costs will still be worth considering but it is losing some of its value. Especially when you factor in CP’s 4 year graduation rate (how hard is it to get the classes you need?) which is lower than many privates, their resources/support like counseling, health center, etc that are stretched to capacity with a larger than expected 2017 Freshman class and keep in mind, in the next couple of years CP will be switching to semesters which could be a logistical challenge. Lots to consider.
As we all try to manage our CPSLO admissions expectations and talk about increasing tuition and the value, I found this clip that’s pretty funny (not sure if it’s ok to post, but we all got a good laugh), and if you don’t get in, it will definitely make you feel better: https://youtu.be/dx2UoG3CbbY
I sense decisions coming out at midnight again!
@momamet That made me start looking at UW again!!
Not sure if I should actually stay up til midnight to see if your senses are correct or not hmmm
What makes you say that?
They have never released at midnight, why would they start now?
