For reference!

Waitlisted - Marine Sciences
3.92 CP GPA
32 ACT
MCA was around 4400?

waitlisted:( i was expecting this though because my gpa is pretty low for cal poly.
major: marine sciences
gpa: 3.75
act: 30
lots of extracurriculars

waitlisted - nutrition
3.89 gpa
1170 SAT

so what are the chances after being waitlisted?

that’s crazy that only 15 were accepted of the wl last year. but i’m sure it’ll be way more cause of the cautious admission approach they took this year

@MamaLlama27 I guess it would be more accurate to say she still has no determination, but I think it is a fair assumption at this point. Just too many great applicants. I am really happy for those who got in. I am just heartbroken for these CS kids who have worked so hard and have just incredible competition this year for the CS spots.

Waitlisted for CS , In state - 1570 SAT, 12 APs/IB, NMF , 3.96 UW. But did get Regents @ UCI and UCSB for ME. I will decline the waitlist spot since I intend to major in ME. Good luck to all!

Is today historically the only day for waitlists? Still havent heard anything, Business Admin, 4.13 GPA 1390 SAT. hope I hear something tomorrow… this was my top choice so I’m praying for at least a waitlist

Hi everyone. If you dont receive anything today, is it safe to assume that the acceptances letter are finished? I was really hoping to get in but should I expect a rejection letter?

@Goolia66

Please don’t insult kids who did not get in SLO with 35 ACT / 1550 SAT, 4.2 GPA.

I got the waitlist email and it said they received a record 65,000 applicants and only admitted 5,400 students. call me crazy but isnt that an 8% acceptance rate ¿ last year it was like 29% someone please explain

@rocknix, I’m not saying that at all. I’m saying that there are far too many qualified applicants for the slots that they offer, just as there are at Stanford and every other selective institution. That’s the way it is.

@nerdgirl97, my uncle got his PhD at Stanford and taught there and then went on to be a department chair at another school followed by a very successful career in the private sector. He said that because of the amount of instruction done by TAs at Stanford and the inadequate amount of practical applications of theory. That, mind you, was simply one man’s perspective on quality. Not one, but two former Caltech/JPL professors told him not to apply to Caltech. My point is that quality is about perception.

@03miata I applied for the same major, still haven’t heard either. My friend got in for it though, so I’m not sure what that means for us. Good luck :frowning:

I just got the email notifying me of my admission status, and in it they said that they had over 65,000 applicants with about 5,400 openings. That’d be an acceptance rate of about 8.3%. Does anyone know how accurate this is? And are those “openings” including or excluding acceptances from waitlist? I don’t know, it seems off to me because that’d be an awfully low acceptance rate and an awfully steep decline from previous years. Am I misunderstanding something?
