Cal Poly Pomona Freshman Fall 2020 Applied/Accepted Thread

Rejected today for cs major. Kinda figured because cs is hella competitive and it’s also a match school for me. It’s okay though. Don’t let the rejections get to you peeps!

@ILuvTea On your rejection does it say Rejected or Admission Withdrawn? Sorry if this seems insensitive; not my intention.

@Realyze12 It saids admission denied on the portal, so therefore rejected.

@ILuvTea Oh, ok, thanks! Best of luck for your other admissions!

@Realyze12 You’re welcome! Same to you! :slight_smile:

accepted 3/11 for general economics!

@Gumbymom @gogomez I got accepted to UC Irvine as Undeclare, but I am not going. My dream is to study Music Industry. As you guys are so knowledgeable about the college system. I want to live in the Dorm at Cal State Pomona, Do you have any information what is the rough amount I have to borrow with EFC 0. If it is too expensive for me, do you know if there is any other way for me to commute to school beside the bus? Thank you for helping a lost young adult.

@Bamoo55: With an EFC of 0, you should get the Cal grant which should cover your tuition, Federal Pell grant which can be used towards your dorm expenses and if you take out the Federal student loan of $5500 along with work study and summer job earnings, you may be able to afford it.

Run the Net Price Calculator to see your estimate. https://www.cpp.edu/financial-aid/net-price-calculator/npcalc.htm

I got off the waitlist for Pomona and was wondering if I get any aid at all. If so, anyone know where is the financial aid info for CPP?
Thanks!

To my knowledge they haven’t sent out financial aid letters yet. I emailed and they told me next week sometime.

I don’t know if this would help anyone, but it’s quite odd really. After being outright denied admission nearly three weeks ago and having my appeal denied, I just received word a few minutes ago that I was accepted into my alternate major of Electromechanical System Engineering Technology. GPA ~ 3.88W 3.6UW, 1210SAT. I’m not going to be taking this offer since it comes quite late and I’ve committed to UCR already. Good luck to all you future Broncos, however!

Accepted
In state/not local
CSU GPA: 3.7
SAT: 119
General Kinesiology

Anyone receive their financial aid letters?

Hello! Wanted to ask, how long did it take for them to respond to your appeal? My son mailed his appeal on 3/15 but hasn’t heard back. We called at the start of last week and was advised to be patient as they have had delays due to the coronavirus. Just curious. Thank you!

@myleeb23 Hi! I appealed as soon as I got the rejection which I believe was about March 12th, somewhere in the afternoon hours. I got an appeal decision by the end of the day at about 10PM, which got denied. That being said, the COVID situation happened shortly after so maybe I just got lucky with the response time. My application did get outright rejected initially and then I got accepted a few days ago like I said so I’d say there’s still hope for anyone. Hope this helps!

Hey y’all! Congratulations on your acceptances! I am an admitted transfer student and I was curious if any of you have gotten a “Congrats / You’re Admitted!” packet in the mail. Many other colleges do this so I was just curious if it was just a admitted freshman thing or not at all @ CPP.

My daughter was admitted back in February and has never received anything in the mail from CPP. Just emails with portal updates. And sometimes not even then.

I believe the financial aid information has been recently uploaded to the portal. Have your daughter look in her portal. It should be under the My Status tab under Financial Aid Status (click that link). Then click on Financial Aid Summary and then again on the 2021 (year) link.

@honeybeedoors Thanks! She found it. Although it only shows loans no Cal grants or anything. So I hope this isn’t the final numbers.
