Very few safety schools left in CA

We’ll join you! My daughter also got in early at SDSU and hasn’t heard from SLO for Aero. She loved the tour at SDSU and will go again on admitted student day. Just wish she wasn’t so sad about SLO, which was her #1.

Your talk with the admissions officer comment made me laugh out loud as it struck close to home again. Good on you.

My DS’s aunt is still in SLO. Auntie was very much looking forward to a a regular visit as she had a parking spot for a freshman vehicle. She was fully prepared to roll up Grand Ave last night. Give a piece of her mind.

The short of it - Poly was positively impactful for our family. 100% certain it will be for the next group of families. Enjoy.

I don’t think so. I’m assuming they’ll replace those two 5-week sessions and one 8-week session with a summer semester. But that’s a 2026-2027 academic year problem.:slightly_smiling_face:

Yes, they’re available. D21 attends club meetings for her department to get the latest and greatest news.

That I don’t know, but if you want, you could call or email the Office of Student Research with your question(s).

IMO, if you have interest and aptitude in whatever the research opportunity offers, then I don’t see why not.

The rollout process is truly torture. We went through it with my son in 2021. He had great stats but no word from SLO until end of March (a rejection). Like your D, my S21 had other great options and so he ended up where he is now and all worked out. SDSU is a wonderful school and location and I wish nothing but the best for your D!! Congrats to her!!

Sure we’ll be visiting and asking, It is valuable to hear the answers to questions from a variety of sources. Thank you.

Has anyone gotten into Business Administration?

Anyone know if there will be other waves of admits?

Only 3 people have gotten in from my school (usually 50+ people get in every year), which is a private college prep with very difficult courses. It’s a shame that CSUs only look at A-G GPA and how people in public schools can take dozens of AP classes while we can’t.

Can I join you with another fat tropical beverage at SDSU?!!?! :tropical_drink:
D heartbroken to not hear from CP. Sounds like same story, she received early acceptance to SDSU, w/ offer to apply to honors college… she LOVED SD in general, so maybe this was meant to be!? :star_struck:

The typical decision timeline for SLO has been at least for the last 13 years that I have followed admissions is 1 large admit wave followed by a trickle of admits usually over the next week which could include portfolio and audition based majors, followed by a wave of waitlists and then finally a wave of denials.

Here is the timeline for 2023 and 2022.

2022: Cal Poly SLO admit wave started on March 10, 2022 with a mixture of OOS and In-state applicants. Waitlist decisions posted March 18, 2022 along with a few acceptances. Admits for students requiring a portfolio review trickled out on March 24, 2022. Denials were posted on March 30, 2022.

2023: Admit wave with IS and OOS on Friday March 10,2023. A few admits reported March 17-24. Portfolio admits March 24 along with waitlist decisions posted after 6 pm. Denials posted on Thursday March 30. 2023.

yes - my son was admitted on monday for business admin. as were at least a couple kids from his (in state non local) HS.

She has a 4.0 unweighted, something silly like 5.08 weighted with technically 7 English classes (4 DEs) but only 3 years of a foreign language (Spanish) and 1 year of ASL. She took more DE classes than AP and chose Honors Physics over AP Physics because the AP Physics teacher was brand new, young and well…proved to be a bit of a train wreck. Her high school rarely gets kids to pass this exam, so she took a risk there. She is ranked 1 out of 415 or so.

Yes!!! I think we need a get together with the slo rejects at the SDSU admit day. Maybe out by the pool that is behind the honors dorm? :joy::joy::joy:

I counted at least 8 acceptances for Business Administration above.

To search for acceptances in any major, just use the magnifying glass in the upper right hand corner of this or any page.

There’s like 2,000 spots for business though. Confused why so little are getting in

Here in solidarity with same story re SDSU and CP. Margaritas all around! Now waiting for honors SDSU notification…

Just for clarification, the enrollment projections state a target enrollment of 607 freshmen for Business Administration. So, the 2,000 “spots” must actually mean acceptances in your post.

That would assume a yield of 30%, but since there aren’t many public colleges of business in CA, I’d personally think the yield is much higher.

Also, CC is a very small microcosm of the universe of college decisons.

Ah. Got it, thanks.

Also, I don’t go to a CC, I’m in a private high school which has college level courses. Unfortunately it seems that CSUs don’t look at course difficulty and simply look at your GPA and number of AP classes, which makes it much easier for public schools to get in. I could be wrong though

CC in the context that I used it above means College Confidential. Apologies for the confusion.

Ohhh :joy:
Yeah thats a good point. I’m sure there’s a large amount of people who got in
